Your Ethics as a Role Player!

First Post
out of curiosity, I was wondering what kind of ethical belifes different people bring into a D&D game. Basic belifes that for you transend the very character design. Your unwritten personal laws of D&D if you could call it that. These are afew of the unwritten rules I always bring with me as a player to the game:

Part of my list is:
-Never kill another player, regardless of the siuation.
-Never steal from another player
-Give everyone a chance to shine, even if they are not always in the center of the events.
-try and work as a team. (this one hasn't exactly worked out, easily for me.)

So whats your's people?

Well, if the character type would PK, or anything else, i'd do it. But i usually play someone that fits in ok. The one thing I hate is cheaters. I'm sick of playing with teenagers who just want to kill stuff and always seem to roll 19's and 20's, but never anything lower than 10. That really irritates me and I try to throw those players out quick, but in group si've been in it was pretty common. Whats the point of playing if you can't lose?

there's nothign wrong with loosing, it makes u see your own mortality and gets u to think on your feet alot better, it does become a problem though if all that ever happens if defeat after defeat.

I don't argue rules or argue about anything else in game. I cannot relate to people who get upset at the gaming table... or on these boards for that matter. Courtesy is contagious (an absolute lie, but what the hey)

Has this policy managed to work for you in games or has it sometimes lead to problems where you wish you should have said soemthing, I only ask out of curiosity.

Well, I am being quite serious when I say I just don't get upset. Its not that I try to be ok and hide the fact that I am angry. Honestly, I have had such a hard time finding a gaming group that I am just glad to hear dice hitting the table. But to answer your question, yeah it works. Are there times when I would LIKE to argue a rule? Sure, but my PC doesn't know that and I try to keep that in mind... in other words, he doesn't even know there ARE rules. Most disagreements I have seen are people who are unhappy with another player's choice of actions during combat. Those are the arguments I avoid at all cost... now if my CHARACTER has a problem with the effectiveness of someone in battle, that is another (and a legitimate) argument to have at another time and in character. Wow I'm long winded... no wonder my students fall asleep. hehe:cool:

often me and the other players in my group forget that fact and fued. Sinply proving it is human nature to seek conflict, its awsome that you can get passed that easily. Guess me and my group need to grow alittle more still.
