• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

your experiences with collaborative world building

Don't build worlds, build campaign settings. Worlds are too far reaching for players to buy into, focus on the 800 x 800 square miles you are going to be playing in, then expand as needed.

Let the players provide locations and NPC that they can call on as contacts.

Note on players buy in!
  • sometimes you have to say NO - players will want a lot of things, races, classes, etc. sometimes they just do not fit and it is up to you to say NO!
  • to have players buy in, remember that for every action, there is a reaction. If the players do something, like burn down a tavern; don't forget about it. think about what effects it will have; things like what is the owner doing now, does it get re-built, how long, etc.
