your favorite word for "command"

Ya know, now that I think about it, a Persistant Command is only fifth level and has some of the most Vile uses I can think of.

Unfortunately, command cannot be made persistent. Persistent can only be applied to spells that "have a personal or fixed range". The examples given are comprehend languages (Range: personal) and detect magic (Range: 60 ft). Command has a range entry of Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels). This is not a "fixed" range. Sorry. :(
They can be extended though.

I have found that using the command "answer" in a zone of truth can be very usefull.
Example: The bad guy does not want to answer the question (for obivious reasons) so the question is asked again and the cleric casts command to "Answer"

"Quiet" has always been a favorite of mine against vocal spellcasters. There's "Disarm" against warriors. I've never tried "Forsake" against a cleric or paladin; I wonder what would happen
;)

Time for my 1st-edition command story. We were in high school at the time, so juvenial behavior was a standard as part of campaigns. At one point, the party mage had really embarassed the party cleric...I forget the exact situation.

But we were out of the dungeon and back in town. The mage was walking ahead of everyone yelling back at the cleric some insult when the cleric cast command at the magic user and commanded him to "perform an act of sex" (although the one-word verb form sensored by the boards). Of course, standing right in front of him....was a horse!

The wizard was arrested and forced to wear a sign for a week proclaiming his crime. "Zell, the horse..." well, you get the idea.

Like someone already said, in 1st-edition, a round was a minute long. :)
