Bard: Felimid Mac Fal, from the "[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Bard-Keith-Taylor/dp/0441049133/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1290313410&sr=8-1"]Bard[/ame]" series by Keith Taylor.

He's an early-Medieval actual Bard from Ireland, complete with harp magic and a silver tongue.

The Princess who Holds the MacGuffin?

nah, in my humble opinion, I'd view Bilbo as being a much better adventuring companion than Frodo. Bilbo (again, in my opinion) was a much better adventurer in The Hobbit than Frodo was in LoTR. Honestly, chances are that my opinion is skewed by the fact that I hate Frodo as a character.

Good question.

I choose:

Fingolfin, High King of the Noldor [Tank]
Corwin of Amber [Brains]
The Dominator from the Chronicles of the Black Company [Mage]
Vainamoinen from the Kalevala as a good all-rounder.

In a 5-member party I would add Severian from The Book of the New Sun as he's just scary.
