Your Trek?

Wrath of Khan! Come on, there are too many awesome quotes in that movie.

My friends and I ruined many a stalling game of Star Fleet Battles with "Kill him Terrell! Kill him now!!"

Though the scene where the Klingon tells Kirk his son is dead in The Search for Spock has to go down as one of the top movie scenes in human history.

"Klingon... Bastards... have... killedmyson!"

My parents were ST fans in the 60's. I was watching ST:TOS when I was 4.
I would probably have watched the original series during its original airing, if it hadn't aired after my bedtime - I had to be in bed by 8:00 when I was 6. ;) I didn't catch anything more than the opening credits until it went into syndication in the 70s. I was hooked from the first time I saw an episode.

As far as the movies, I'd have to vote for Wrath of Khan, with Generations coming second. I can't help loving Malcolm McDowell, and the scene of the Enterprise-D saucer section crashing was pretty awesome. You'd think that would finally make them install safety harnesses on the bridge, though, wouldn't you?!

I-IV did the trick for me, mostly, and as others have said it was II that really shone and was never really matched again. First Contact was also a very decent Trek movie.

So which Star Trek movie was the one that got you on board? Which one made you a true fan? For me it's Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Great movie that I believe re-energized the franchise. It truely made up for the first movie. And it seems set the precendence for a while that only the even numbered movie's were truely any good. It also had some of the best battle scenes for almost any Trek movie ever.
For me, it wasn't the films. I started on The Original Series.

While TWOK is a great adventure film that also touched upon the subject of aging and death, TMP stayed true to its root of offering "cerebral" type stories (the opposite of a "no-brainer" good-vs-evil Star Wars stories).

Galaxy Quest

Given that it isn't actually a Trek Movie I think it can only really be given the #2 spot after Wrath. It's a REALLY close second, but still second. Though, there was more Trek Spirit and Soul in Galaxy Quest than in all the other Trek Films (excepting 2 of course) put together.

I don't see it as an either or thing. There were some good movies that I still enjoy and would watch again, and there were some dogs. all of the series had their ups and downs and each has it's own set of purist. My favorite of those old movies though would probably be the Wrath of Khan, just for the way PvP always uses "Khan!" with the owner. Great stuff.

I loved The Search for Spock and Wrath of Khan. I also really enjoyed First Contact. I ike all things Trek anyways but DS9 made me love it.

Keep it up with the Urhura jokes and I'll slap you until you think Trek V was a masterpiece.- ab3

Ab3 is a guy who chronicles the adventures of his gaming group. I don't know if they're all true but I laugh at them. Some of them can be somewhat offensive though.

Hmm.... I dunno...
I remember watching TOS when I was a wee lad (during the 80's and 90's) and liking it and I can remember watching ST 2 and 4 all the time on VHS, but I didn't really get into ST until I started watching TNG. I think it was in its 4th season at that time.

DS9 remains my favorite and some of the original movies are still great. ST 2, 4, and 6 are great fun.
