You're a gamer???

Two kids were in it, both about 12, and one was running a homemade module for the other. I was *this* close to asking if I could join the game. :)

"Hello, little boys. Mind if this complete stranger plays 'Let's Pretend' with you...?"

I simply assume that everyone I meet is a roleplayer... ;)

...or that they'd become one if ever they had the opportunity to play in a good game. How many people have dismissed the hobby entirely because of a single bad experience?

"Yeah, can you believe she's a DM for her D&D group back in Montreal?"
Hm. I wonder if I know her.

That would have to be me.

Pastor of a Baptist Church in rural Alabama.

Of course my wife is the Director of Creative Services for a large faith based University, and the other player in out group is the Web Content Manager.

So I guess we are all a bit unexpected.

I mentioned this on another board a while ago but I think the story is worth repeating.

A couple of years ago I was working as a forklift driver in a warehouse. My lift was running low on power so I went to switch out the battery. The batteries on these things weigh several hundred pounds and so you need to remove/place them with a special mobile sled which is a little tricky to drive.

I had taken the old battery out and was replacing it but was having a bit of a tough time grabbing the new one off of the rack on the wall. After six or seven tries, I still hadn't gotten the sled lined up perfectly with the rack. The maintenance guy came by and said to me, "Are you taking twenty?" I was pretty surprised. I hadn't thought that there were any other gamers working there.

Turns out there actually weren't any other gamers there. The batteries are numbered. I had been aiming for #20 and he noticed that I was having a tough time of it. I tried to explain the concept of "taking 20" which he listened to with a polite but confused smile. :D

Haha, what're the odds? I've vowed if I ever named a race horse it would be either 'Natural Twenty' Or 'Critical Hit'. I'm inclined to go for the Crit one, cos the other could be mistaken for an age thing... :uhoh:

I was talking about D&D in my Journalism class back in 12th grade, and when a bunch of beautiful, albeit preppy-type, girls turned and ask, "Wow, you play D&D? Can we join?"
