Zombie Hunt (Bront Judging) [Concluded]

Meksoor and Aidan head out to look for the beast, leaving the others to make the final preperations. After several hours of random searching, you hear something promsiing... the sound of smashing and rending.

Aproaching, you see a 15' long lizard with wings... the wingspan is about 20'. Many of its scales have fallen off, it has open sores, and even from a distance it smells strongly of rot.

It's hooked tail looks to be in pretty bad shape, and while it might have been the creatures primary weapon while alive it looks too rotted to be much of a threat now. It's got enough bulk that it's definitely a threat, and the talons still look dangerous as well.

A few stray arrows remain embedded in it's hide, and you expect it is in fact wounded. It's not anywhere near disabled, though.

It hasn't noticed you yet, being thoroughly engaged in random destruction. It seems to be attacking a grove of trees, and it's broken off some fairly large branches.

ooc: Minor request. I'm a bit concerned re: possible delay. Perhaps you could have Aidan suggest a plan. This way I can assume Meksoor agrees unless a post to the contrary occurs. If you just ask an open ended question, we make little progress.

OOC: No problem, but I need a few things clarified first. Are we several hours travel away from the barn? If so, and we are on foot, I can think of no way to lure the beast to the barn that doesn't wind up with us fighting it alone. If we have horses, then maybe. I personally, am happy to have my character die (or succeed) valiantly, but I'm a bit leery of forcing that on others. So I guess my question is how far away from the barn are we (travel time or distance), and do we have horses nearby?

OOC: Sorry for the silence. Insane day in the office today, and I'm literally on my way out the door to class now. I should be able to post something after 10 PM EDT.

Very roughly a mile away. On foot, with a zombie wyvern chasing you for inspiration, you believe you could make the run in five to six minutes.

ooc: Oops... this has been on my computer screen since yesterday. Got distracted!

"My thoughts were to jump up, shout at it to get its attention, and then run like the guilty back to the barn. It doesn't sound like the most intelligent plan, now that I hear it out loud, but it does sound like it could work." Aidan whispers.

ooc: Has Aidan left enough of his equipment at the farm to get back to a light load? As fully outfitted, he's got a medium load... that would slow him down.

OOC: Well, there'd be no need to bring along his Backpack and Bedroll, so he'd probably be without them. If not, he'll drop his bedroll before they start running.

Aidan glances at Meksoor and asks, "Any suggestions on how we get it to follow us?"

Meksoor grinned as she loaded a bolt into her crossbow. "Like this." She then stepped out into the clearing, shouting a challenge to the rotting beast. "Wretched abomination, you have plagued this land for too long! Know you now that you face an heir of Dhakaan, and prepare to meet your inexorable doom!" In case her words didn't have the intended effect, she fired off a shot from her crossbow for added emphasis.

[sblock]...and gets a grand total of 6 as a result without taking range increments into account. Did I mention it was a warning shot? ;)[/sblock]
Turning to Aidan once more, she quickly added, "and now we run!", before turning on her heel and racing for the barn.
