    Furious Smash - Damage Question

Don't quote me, but I seem to recall looking this up in the PHB. I couldn't find any language restricting bonus critical dice to 'damage rolls', so I would say yes. Let's face it, critting on Furious Smash (which I did twice in one battle, which is what lead me to look it up in the first...

    Battle Standards and Solitaire

I don't get why they would give it resist 50, and then make removing it a standard action, no roll, no opportunity attack, for anyone even adjacent to the banner. Seems like banners will wreck solos and be useless against minion swarms, which is kind of the opposite of how I would expect them...

Heroic Feats: where are the "gimmes"?

In the game I'm playing in, we've reached 3rd level. Every PC (total of 7 players, though we have about 5 on any given day) has Toughness.

    Excerpt: Warlock (Dark Pact)

The pact at-will is lame - the 'high' damage is barely better than Eldritch Blast, and it lacks the interesting rider effects of any of the other pact at-wills. The pact boon is pretty cool, though. Seems like it could either be used rapid-fire, eliminating minions in droves, or saved up to...

    New DDI aps

That's exactly what I'm whining about, actually.

    New DDI aps

Unlike the D20 SRD, though, this 'compendium' has a monthly subscription attached. It SHOULD be able to replace the books. To put it another way: they want me to pay $60 a year to use it, but sometimes the thing I want to find is not going to be in there, so I need to shell out another $60 and...

    The 18 INT Warlord

This doesn't work. Customer service noted that the ability to use a longsword as an implement requires you to have an Arcane Implement Mastery.

    Commander’s Strike

It does mention a range: Melee.

Why Dragonborn fighters should have low Con

Except that a Wizard needs Int to hit with the power in the first place. Dragonborn Fighters can pick Strength as the attack stat for their breath weapons.

Rogue Sneak Attack in surprise round vs. Alertness

First Strike isn't based on whether or not the enemy is surprised. It's based on whether or not they have acted in the current encounter.

Warforged casting spells through chest-attached orb?

That was my plan as well. From my reading of the rules (though admittedly small amount of play), it seems like multiclassing is overly onerous in 4E, and the idea of making it less so appeals to me. But, I would like some assurance that this is intentional, and considered in the overall...

Warforged casting spells through chest-attached orb?

That's exactly how I got on this track to begin with! I was telling my friend that I was thinking about using an attached orb and going Wizard multiclass for Thunderwave. He said, "So what you're saying is, your chest panel pops open, and then the enemies get blasted by the Matrix of Leadership?"

Warforged casting spells through chest-attached orb?

That does sound like a reasonable ruling; the warforged would get some benefit from the attached component (no need to 'draw' the orb after sheathing a sword) without having 'three hands'. I was just hoping someone could find quotes to make the intention of the article more clear.

Warforged casting spells through chest-attached orb?

You know, I thought that might be true, but then I couldn't find it specifically stated in the PHB that magic armor requires the 'chest' slot. On the contrary, item slots are only described as applying to 'clothing' items, which are distinct from 'armor' items. Can you back that up your...

Warforged casting spells through chest-attached orb?

So I was talking to a friend today about how I thought that using a component orb was munchkiny, because you could get the orb's enhancement bonus to spells without needing a hand to hold it in, but then I went over the quote again, and it looks like there is nothing specifically there that...
