    How big are regulation dice?

The Official size for dice is at least 20 cubits* but no greater than 27 cubits in width. The Egyptian Royal Cubit is the assumed cubit in use.

D&D 4E Is Essentials Compatible with Old School 4ed?

The Wizard has always been a controller. Being the first controller, it had a bit of trouble "finding itself" early on, and a lot of people played it like it was a striker.

Ranger (Hunter) is a Martial and Primal Controller

I haven't bothered with the math, but if the Scout player is anything like a typical melee Ranger player with feat choices, there might not need to be much more than that done for damage. There's a metric crap-ton of ways to get more damage to damage rolls from attacks to take advantage of...

Ranger (Hunter) is a Martial and Primal Controller

While I tend to be more of a fan of a purely Martial Ranger (thematically), the Martial/Primal blend allows for some of the more "typically D&D" Ranger concepts, so that's a welcome addition. The build itself looks pretty nifty so far, though I'll have to see the whole thing before deciding if...

Martial Controller is coming in Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms

He totally started off with that at Boromir, but dude started to only have eyes for Frodo. And then he died, of course. So Aragorn took his bracers and made emo eyes at the boat as it was carried away and moved on towards other pastures.

    Looking for introductory material

Red Box. "hhWHAT?" Red Box! "OOKAAAAAY!" Red Box. "Yeeah-HEAAAH!" Look for it on the 21st and beyond. (Crunk not included) Seriously, take a look at the Red Box. It is geared specifically towards people who've never played an RPG ever, with solo adventures to create their characters and...

    "Essentials Only" possible in CB?

Aside from Magic Missile, the only changes made to spells "for the Essentials" is to add a spell school keyword to them. Any other change was made to give Wizards in general a little boost, which has nothing to do with the existence of the Essentials line. Well, and to remove an option from...

A few thoughts/questions regarding Heroes of the Fallen Lands

That's exactly what it does. Well, technically that's not true. It gives the usual Expertise bonuses "to the attack rolls of weapon attacks" and allows you to use a minor action to sheath a weapon and then draw a weapon.

Time for a new Players Handbook

No-one made a huge stink about a "revised edition" and whatnot when they came out save for the people who make a huge stink about the errata itself creating a "revised edition". My thoughts on the matter would be to make the new, updated printings in slightly different formats than the...

Time for a new Players Handbook

They already released a version of the PHB1, MM1, and DMG1 updated with the current errata at the time, you know. The Deluxe Editions.

A few thoughts/questions regarding Heroes of the Fallen Lands

Argh, I totally missed the box on pg. 57 that says you can choose powers from any source whenever you get to choose a new class power as long as they are the right type. Buggery. That means that Clerics are only stuck with their Domain powers, while the rest of the time they have access to...

If you were to optimize a 2-weapon ranger...

Also, now that rapiers are Martial weapons, your halfling Ranger might consider going with those instead of scimitars, unless you're particularly partial to Scimitar Dance. The extra +1 to hit they give can potentially net you more damage overall than DEX damage on a miss. Light blades also have...

    Another feat tax?

I see it not as a feat tax, but a way to get around all the retraining that went on from one tier to the next for the feats that gave those bonuses. Now you just pick the one feat and not worry about it from that point on instead of picking up the Paragon feat for it and retraining it to the...

Essentials: Its not 4.5, its BECMI 2.0!

There will always be sales of the PHB1, however small in number they might be, so long as it is still made available and 4E is still the current edition. Yes, you can basically not need to buy it if you sign up for DDI, but not everybody wants to only rely on DDI. Some of us actually like having...

A few thoughts/questions regarding Heroes of the Fallen Lands

From the wording in podcasts and interviews and posts with the designers and devs, if you're gaining an At-Will, Encounter, Daily, or Utility power, so long as the power has [Appropriate Class Name] and [Appropriate Level #] in its description, you may choose to take that, instead. The examples...
