Another question: If a wizard shapechanges into an iron golem then he cant speak right? And his spell components and spell book have merged with his new form, as well as any protective widgets he might of had. So does that mean he cant cast spells requiring verbal or material components...

Can one cast this spell on any plane or just the material? If one casts the spell while on the material plane can they create a second body on the material plane (like they normally could on any other) and move around in that? This would effectively give them a backup body in stasis. Cheers, Sam

DMG pg 226 describes wounding. It's the eqv of a +2 bonus. What you described is the correct effect. I believe wounding changed in the 3.0 to 3.5 converstion.
