Which 'Campaign Classics' would you buy?

Planescape of course, Spelljammer... And... The Savage Coast (the sub-sub-setting available for free on the Wizards web-site so brutally reviewed above)

to the superhero gamers: what/where is your campaign set

I tend to play in a weird hybred of cities - most campaigns are set in Century Station (I know, but it's the rules that suck - Palladium actually does have some half deccent settings), which is relocated to a Marvel universe varient that also contains a few extra cities - all ripped from other...

Why is Eberron being pushed so hard?

Just refering to those people who tend to act like vampires (according to the romantic/angsty vampire novels0< yet at the same time don't drink blood, don't have fangs can go out during the day-time, but only go out at night because it's cool (or else they think that they're alergic to natural...

The Planar Handbook - Merric's views (in a rambling way)

I'm actually begining to think that it would be interesting to try all 3 levels of Dwarf Sorcerer and all 3 levels of Planar Sorcerer... It would certainly make for interesting play. Oh, and I'm with the Mephling suport. Mephits are cool - now only if I could get the rest of them as mephlings...

Why is Eberron being pushed so hard?

Meh. We live in a setting with giant, treaded hunks of steel that blow things up, semi-demi-quasi-vamperic daydreamers, sticks that shoot dozens of projectiles at hundreds of miles per hour, winged, hollow shells which can take you across the globe in less than a day, and weapons that can level...

the portal opens, would you go through?

My reaction? "Alright, voice, first off, who, exactly am I going to be the pawn of? There's no way that this offer is gratis, so I want to know what's going on here. Second off, are you guarrenteeing that I'm going to be gaining 'levels' in a 'PC class' - that no matter what I will get...

Why is Eberron being pushed so hard?

The problem here, however, is that this requires that the setting be a direct paralell to earth. We can't say that the development required to create this technology (or more specifically magic as technology) is actually required, since it's not earth, and, in fact, is a fairly big departure...

Why is Eberron being pushed so hard?

Nah, more like FF6(3), where magic is still being used as an energy source (well, for the evil emprie, anyways), but at the same time has the same basic medival trappings. Though, I'd say that magic powering technology is closer to Iron Kingdoms - Eberron is really weird, where it's magic...

Why is Eberron being pushed so hard?

I, on the other hand, would contend that it can be all of the above. Just not as strongly as you seem to be stateing the various genere fragments. Swashbuckling may have been a product of the renaissance, but there's nothing that limits the tone of a swashbuckling adventure to being merely a...

I hope Eberron is a flop. Am I evil?

Like most everyone else, you're not evil. How can someone who likes Planescape and Spelljammer be evil, not to mention Mystra... But, I hope it succeeds, because I'm one of the rapid fan-hordes who's having a most excellent time with it, and would like to see WoTC support for this setting. It...

Why is Eberron being pushed so hard?

Well, yes, it can be all of those - aside from "Magic as ultratech", since the whole magic as ultratech is about as prevalent as it would be in any other D&D setting - it's closer to magic as... well, it's common magic. Magic that's used. Pulp heroes and swashbuckling are pretty much the same...

Aberrant and Adventure! D20 books, how are they?

I liked it myself, though I did have a couple problems with the book (these pretty much come down to a dislike of their use of a D&D ruleset over a d20 Modern ruleset, and the fact that it doesn't balance very well when you decide to include non-Inspired characters in the game - if, for example...

if you were suddenly pulled into the FR...

If I belived it.... Probably Mask. Sounds strange, but hey, Mask is the trickster Loki of Faerun... If I didn't? I'd be a smart ass and say that I was venerating Ao, and proclaim it loudly, from every street corner, until I die in a freak accident involveing a squid, a rutagbega and a note...

Any module/sourcebook made you go "Drop everything I want to run this right now?"

*blinks. Googles The JoAT Company* Bah! Some book publisher went back in time and stole my name! Now I feel that I must mark this sorrow with something special... What could it be... Of course! Adding X-Crawl to the list of those 'Jump up and Play Me!' books... So very, very cool... Maybe...

So, I'm nuts (long, asking for campaign help)

Yeah, I do tend to do that, don't I. Ah well. Never mastered the art of editing for length, methinks. *snips it down to the bare essentials... according to me, anyways* Thanks - I can't take credit at all for the Astral Realms idea, since the concept is basic ripped straight from White Wolf's...

Any module/sourcebook made you go "Drop everything I want to run this right now?"

Eberron - the one game that I know no-one else around here would be interested in running, at least until I hook them. May well drop my current FRish campagin to run it. Iron Kingdoms - This one I can pawn off on some other people, since it's basicly the exact same thing as they've been...

So, I'm nuts (long, asking for campaign help)

Hmmmm... Interesting.... I will have to look into this. And maybe is I slap a couple of small 'uber elf' labels on that map, it would be a good way to go. Thanks for the input!

    Calling All Canadians!

Edmontonian over here. My persona favortie momment? This is goona sound really sappy and patrotic, but in an uneducated way, but: When we offically adopted O' Canada as our nation anthem. Damnit, I love that song.

So, I'm nuts (long, asking for campaign help)

Such fun. Ah well, today I find myself before you, needful of a bit of help to construct a campaign setting - a fairly generic, mediocre world, something that's not very tied into itself and can thusly be readily acted upon by outside forces. Now, the reason I'm asking is because I seem to...

[UA] Armor as DR + Damage Conversion

Not bad ideas - definetly stealing the staggered dealie. Might tinker with the power attack option, too.
