    D&D Race Survivor -- Round 2

Dwarves must go! Too short to be a human, too tall for a halfling, too hairy to be a gnome, more annoying that half-orcs, always role played sounding like Scotty from Star Trek, hammers suck. They are just too munchkiny to keep arround. Slow speed is not a disadvantage for race that normally...

    Top down, or bottom-up?

I went for the bottom up. My last campaign started with a small village next to a wall similar to the Great Wall designed to keep something out. For the first 3rd of the campaign there was enough stuff going on at a local level that there wasn't any real need to expand the world. And when I did...

Mapping Program that doesn't burn thru ink

You can try switching to a line are program like Visio. Since MS bought them the price has gone up but you may still be able to find the older Visio Home version in the bargin bin. Other things you may want to look into is a different printer. If most of your maps are in b/w you can pick up a...

Good place to buy a "refurbished" (and warrantied) laptop?

Check www.tigerdirect.com They normally have laptops starting at $500. I picked up a couple of off lease Thinkpads for $509. They are 900Mhz P3s but they had faster ones for a little more.

    Printing PDFs

PDF files spool to most printers as images sothey take up large amounts of memory. This i the biggest weakness of the pdf format. You can get arround the problem by printing the file in sections or adding addtional memory to the printer.

Map Folio 3D, Assembling the Tower

IIRC, the origional pdfs had options for the tower had a couple of different tops. The Tower top is also supposed to overlap the base to create an overhang all the way arround the tower. The octagional tower displayed with the instructions is the wrong tower. It should be a picture of the...

    (How) did you ditch alignment?

My group reevaluated alignment when we started our Eberron campaign. The focus has shifted from good and evil to law and chaos mainly because of the nature of Eberron. The structure of the game is more political with each of the houses working like corperations or sydicates. So the players have...

Dundjinni & Gridsmith - best for battlemaps?

Go with DJ. Gridsmith does not appear to be supported anymore (no email replies or updates in quite awhile).

    Dunjinni - experiences?

I have a few maps on my website that were created with DJ. http://project2501.tzo.com/DND_Miniatures_3D_Tile_Archive/files.html The filesize relates directly to the size of the map. The default output resolution is 200dpi which works out well for print but is overkill for onscreen viewing. It...
