    Ebon Eyes vs. Darkvision

I came upon this old thread and wonder if it was ever clarified. I think the Ebon Eyes spell is worded poorly, but i interpret the spell to do two things: 1) Negates the effect of magical darkness on vision. and 2) Negates the miss chance while in shadowy illumination. Thus the subject...

    Casting Question

    Flanking and Ranged Sneak Attacks

From 30' away, you can Sneak Attack if your opponent is denied Dex bonus period. Which is not the case when he is simply flanked.

    Spells Centered on You

'twas no offense intended. My apology for seeming harsh. It is, however, disappointing when searching this forum for actual Q/A on Rules, and discussion is muddied with multiple house rule interpretations and various likes and dislikes. There are separate forums for that after all. I'll...

    Why do YOU hate specialization?

I don't. I used to, but the alternate class features available to the spec wizards in the PHBII have changed my position. :)

    Spells Centered on You

wonderful, then kindly move your idea to the "house rules" section. ;)

    Spells Centered on You

We run into this situation rarely, but keeping it simple, the rules are the rules as written. Nothing says a spell must be useful for all casters. (a good example is water breathing) Therefore, a larger than normal caster must use a new spell, with a larger Area but similar effect. And...

    Globe of Invulnerability, lesser questions

from the 3.0 FAQ on the subject... interesting that none of these basic questions have been asked before. There is next to nothing regarding GoI in the v3.5 FAQ. The spells minor globe of invulnerability and globe of invulnerability create a spherical emanati on with a 10-foot radius. Does...

    Globe of Invulnerability, lesser questions

True. perhaps with the inclusion of "you" in the area text, the other sections should have been "Range: Personal" and "Target: You". One might suspect WoTC really doesn't want Huge casters benefiting from these spells at all ;)

    Globe of Invulnerability, lesser questions

Well put. I was indeed looking at the 3.0 version of the spell (minor globe of invulerability) which does say "can leave and return to the globe without penalty." but omits "nor are spells already in effect when the globe is cast." It appears (once again) that i prefer the 3.0 version of the...

    Globe of Invulnerability, lesser questions

    1) No where does RAW say or imply that just because the caster is bigger than medium size the areas of her spells should increase proportionately. Nor does it mandate that just because a caster has access to a spell, it must be useful to her. Perhaps a Huge size caster would cast such a "size...

    Disallowing "Casting Defensively"

I think the reason i'm considering this is that i long for "the way it used to be" in first or second edition AD&D. If a caster even took one point of damage, his concentration was broken and the spell was lost. I think i'd have to change at least Dim Door and Word of Recall to immediate...

    Parrying a blow...

Parry: as a readied action, you may use any of your melee attacks to attempt to deflect an opponent’s melee attack. If the defender is wielding a weapon that grants a bonus to a “disarm” attempt, the same bonus applies to a parry attempt. The attack is resolved as follows: Opposed Rolls. You...

...to make spell casting in melee tougher. Just curious if anyone has tried this in games and how it worked.

Specific rules for casting spells underwater...

If i'm not mistaken, in 2nd ed. it was treated like being deaf... 20% chance of failure or such, but i can't find my old books to confirm. This could be a reasonable ruling if one assumes that casters must clearly hear themselves to properly cast using a verbal componant. either way it appears...
