    D&D 3.0 Harm spell

Actually, "the question I asked" was whether anyone remembered if it had been errataed, and saying "No" is saying "Nope, no one remembers," if you're taking it literally. But that's just a nitpick. Besides that, though, I think it's bad form to post a one-word answer. Why reply at all if...

    D&D 3.0 Harm spell

"No" was probably the most unhelpful answer possible. I mean, if you want to ignore the thread altogether, fine, but posting something like that is worse than useless. I didn't think it had made it into the official errata, because I searched through that, but I was sure it had been discussed...

    D&D 3.0 Harm spell

Thank you for your extremely helpful one-word reply. I now know where to turn for all my future rules questions. Indeed, if you had a newsletter, I might subscribe to it, just so that I could benefit from your vast wisdom in the future. In the absence of any HELPFUL information...

    D&D 3.0 Harm spell

Okay, does anyone here remember if there was ever an OFFICIAL piece of errata in 3.0 which stated that the harm spell allowed a saving throw? I remember there being a lot of complaining about how broken the spell was, and I know there were plenty of designers who said it should allow a saving...

    Best NonWOTC Campaign setting?

AU needs more love. Even though the setting is a little sketchy, it's a great concept with lots of possibilities. With Monte Cook and Mike Mearls--both in my subjective short list of best designers in the industry--working on it, it's just going to get better and better.

Anyone else overall disappointed by D&D books?

I too think that the stuff WotC has been producing lately has been crap. When I looked at their list of soon-to-be-released products yesterday, I was reminded--not for the first time--of that glorious era in the 90s when the business model was "release a whole bunch of random useless crap and...

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

You have failed at the internet. Clicking on the link I posted above, the very first link is this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/A683688 -- which would have immediately disabused him of his notion that Gygax ran the company into the ground, not to mention giving a fairly good notion...

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

...or maybe there'd be a better signal-to-noise ratio in the posts that were left. C'mon, "thoroughly searching"? You pop three words into Google, and there's the answer he was looking for. Besides that, I'm not even talking about going through old threads to see whether information's already...

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

I think "lurk more" is a legitimate reply when the answers to all your questions can be found by paying attention to the message boards. These sorts of topics come up every now and then, and I think that posting a thread badmouthing Gary Gygax is much more offensive than telling an obvious...

    Richard Garfield vs. Gary Gygax

Wow, someone should lurk more. Gary Gygax is most likely "revered" because he co-created an amazingly influential game--the RPG that basically every RPG since has been based on. Also, anyone with even a slight knowledge of TSR's history would be aware that Gygax was forced out of the company...

Update: Malhavoc PDFs no longer available at RPGnow (merged)

It doesn't list paid accounts. Mainly it's for annoying newspapers like LA Times and NY Times, where registration is required before you can read any of the articles. You go to bugmenot.com, enter the site URL, then use the login provided, and gain access to the articles. I was responding...

Also: You've obviously never heard of http://www.bugmenot.com. :D Required registration is a joke, especially when no one gives truthful information in the unlikely event that they actually register.

I was assuming Pain In The Arse, but I could be wrong.

Update: Malhavoc PDFs no longer available at RPGnow (merged)

UPDATE! I finally got into the site and downloaded the freebie file for Malhavoc. I especially enjoyed the way it made my Acrobat Reader completely unresponsive for the past 10 minutes. A+++ would download again* *I'm not impressed.

What are you talking about? That has nothing to do with what he's saying. A more accurate comparison would be a store that forces customers who are walking out the door to not only display a receipt and allow their merchandise to be inspected (a la Best Buy, which I'll say already treats their...

Update: Malhavoc PDFs no longer available at RPGnow (merged)

My, what an interesting point. I did see that there are a couple of ways to crack DRM-enabled PDF files, so I'm not really sure what the point of that is. However, I'd be happy to give them a go, provided THE GODDAMNED SITE WOULD LOAD ALREADY.

Update: Malhavoc PDFs no longer available at RPGnow (merged)

I've always hated RPGNow, so if the new site isn't a tremendous inconvenience (and the DRM files don't present problems), I don't really care where I'm going, as long as it isn't RPGNow.

    Complete Planscape List

I have them all. :) Also, "warriors of heaven"/"guide to hell" aren't actual planescape products--they weren't released with the logo, and they aren't written for the setting. They're officially "core" products.

    Planecape recommended viewing

You know, I was reading some of the cosmology stuff on Monte's site this morning, and it occurred to me that most of Planescape could be adapted to an "infinite worlds"-style cosmology if you just see sigil as a sort of trans-dimensional city that appears on many if not all planes, sort of like...
