    Best Setting Books?

My all time favourite setting is Birthright. I do quite like Eberron though, mainly because it uses a lot of material that is very similar to what I put in my own campaign setting.

    Which is better balanced?

I would agree. It seems very pedantic to worry about which is the most balanced. You are either going to like the setting or not. If you like it, adjust what you find unbalanced to suit your game. You don't have to use everything as is straight from the book.

Two magic items, do they exist?

Gem of Seeing (DMG, pg. 257) is the most obvious choice for item 1. I can't recall any other item or spell off the top of my head that would be as effective. You can always make something up. Personally I'd be wary about giving something to a player because they ask for it though.

    Why don't I get warm-tingly feelings when I buy a 3E product like in 1E/2E/Basic D&D?

I am uninspired by most of the rules books (race of, complete whatever), but I was very excited by the Eberron Campaign Setting, which I thought was rather good. I've always been that way though, the only products that interest me are new campaign books or settings.

    Races of Destiny: Buying/Bought?

Chapter 7 is actually the section on magic, all nine pages of it. It features a couple of new clerical domains and a few new spells and Psionic powers. As for my thoughts on the book, like Races of Stone it isn't worth buying, unless you can get it really cheaply, even then I wouldn't bother...

What's the best D&D product EVAR?

The Birthright Boxed set. It is the only campaign setting I've used for the past 7 or 8 years.

    Serpent Kingdoms: Buying?

I'll probably buy it, as I'm hoping it will contain material I can use in my game, but I may not if it's not what I'm looking for. So I guess <grin> that I could be put down as undecided.

Serpent Kingdoms worth buying for non-Realms players?

I don't have a scaly progenitor race as such, all the intelligent reptillian races were raised up the evolution ladder by an ancient Dragon sorcerer because... well dragon's don't usually need reasons. Given the number of different names I went though before I came up with the final version I...

Serpent Kingdoms worth buying for non-Realms players?

Unfortunately it isn't out in Australia yet (at least not here in South Australia) but it is top of my must investigate further list. I'm hoping it will province some useful information for my current campaign, which does feature two scaly races (the aforementioned Ssarak and the Quala, a race...

Serpent Kingdoms worth buying for non-Realms players?

Sarruhk eh? I once created a powerful reptillian race I called the Ssarak, a very similar sounding names when you think about it. I wonder if they are relatives... Description of race is here. http://users.chariot.net.au/~hoss/text/race5.htm

    Removing Rules - Please Vote

Probably not... In my game yesterday the main encounter was between the PCs and an Orog general who was harmlessly training up some goblin troops to invade the kingdom of Mhoried when the PCs blundered by while taking a shortcut back to their town for some R&R. After some debate the PCs (who...

    Removing Rules - Please Vote

Actually, you can run a very successful adventure without any preparation at all. I do it all the time in my current campaign. Occasionally I use an adventure from dungeon, or convert one on the fly to my campaign. I'm about to head off to this week's gaming session with only the basic ideas of...

    The bring back Birthright thread!

You must not be keeping up with the latest ideas on birthright.net as the latest version of the bloodline rules uses a scion class to balance bloodlines (although actual abilities are not set to a person level, but rather to their bloodline strength as it has always been). And on a personal...

    The bring back Birthright thread!

I already have all the Birthright books, but I'd buy a new professionally produced version if it was published. It's not going to happen though, not enough potential sales to make it worth while publishing. It was even discussed by the birthright.net development team, but WotC is very...

    Unearthed Arcana 3.5....where besides Kazaa?

Unearthed Arcana is actually only the 6th 3E book I've ever bought... Quite expensive here in Australia, but worth the price IMO.

    Things that annoy your PCs?

NPCs that beat them, that seems to be the biggest hate, and not just in combat either. They especially hate it when the bag of gems the noble gave them turns out to be little more than coloured glass.

    the real chimera...sooo much goodness

I have a streak of white hair on one side of my head that really stands out. It has either been their since birth, or is due to something that happened when I was really young, because as far I can remember I've always had it.

    Whither "Fields of Blood"?

So basically what you are both after is a set of rules that govern what happens when the PC take over a fort or something similar and want to rule it, or build a castle in the wilderness and try to attract people to live there, as well as rules to cover trading, resources, an army, and so on...

    Whither "Fields of Blood"?

There certainly aren't a lot of of kingdom-management systems out there. In fact, until I starting taking a look around I thought Birthright was the only one. Birthright is unlikely ever to look at things on the small scale (such as an individual village or fort) but rather the rules focus on...

    Whither "Fields of Blood"?

From what I have seen so far (the very short description and previews at http://edenstudios.net/odyssey/7005.html) Fields of Blood appears to be a copy of the Birthright domain rules, even to the point of calling rulers Regents and kingdoms Realms, and having RP (although it is now Resource...
