"I think we should give her apartment atleast a once over right now. If needed we can come back. We'll need to talk to all the broads that she knew while waitressing" Trask tells Garces. Unless asked anything, he shuts up.

The quirky, and odd Trask that you met back at HQ seems to melt away. He's lost deep in thought. This case is out of his forte, and seems to be getting to him. Of the things that were declassified that he's been through, you figure a man such as himself could take the idea of a woman being murdered. Sure, he didn't have to like it, but you can make a fair guess that he's been in worse. As he is lost in thought, you finish talking to the landlady. His right hand is clenched, his gaze far away.

Waitress, wanting to be an actress. We've all seen it written countless times. This was like a lead in to one them pulpy novella of the late 30s-early 40s. Girl brought down in her prime. An angel's wings clipped, and slow fall. She got thrown out like yesterday's garbage. This isn't a way to treat a dame. Now she has a role, only it's a part she didn't want to play. Not a hollywood ending by any means. Instead of meeting a nice you beau she takes the big sleep.

"I run a tight ship here, only single girls and no men allowed unescorted. Michelle never brought him here that I knew about."

If you guys make quick search rolls I'll describe the apartment.

“I run a tight ship here, only single girls and no men allowed unescorted. Michelle never brought him here that I knew about.”

Ricky nods and smiles. “I’m sure you do ma’am. Thank you very much for all your help. We’ll spend a few minutes in Miss Dowling’s apartment and we’ll let you know when were through.” Ricky picks up his hat and overcoat. As he’s about to walk out the door, he turns and asks the landlady, “Ma’am, could you describe the detective who was here earlier? Did you happen to catch his name?”

Once inside the apartment Ricky joins Trask in the search. Search: 22

Please be the kind of girl who keeps a diary and a photo album, Ricky thinks as he searches

"He has sandy blonde hair and brown eyes, and was about your height, sir. One thing I remember, because I dislike it, was that he carried a bag of pistachio nuts. When he ate one he put the whole thing in his mouth and spit the shell back into his hand. Who does such a thing?"

The landlady leaves you alone as you begin your search. Trask searches halfheartedly, his mind on something seemingly just beyond his consciousness.

The contents of Dowling's apartment are typical for what you expect a young aspiring actress to have. There are no photos of her with any men, but several with her and an assortment of female friends. In a box in her closet is a Land Camera.

Garces lifts the top of a rolltop desk and finds a stack of resumes. Oddly, the name on top of each one is Marilyn Monroe. Looking more closely, the acting credits are all movies with Monroe in them: Monkey Business, We're Not Married!, Don't Bother to Knock.... The address is Tularosa drive, however, and a stack of publicity photos beneath the resumes are Dowling's alone.

Curious, Garces looks for other things. He finds no journal, but uncovers a stack of Diner's Club receipts in a cabinet - everything from October and later is abruptly signed "Marilyn Monroe" in what appears to be Dowling's handwriting.

"What do you make of this, Trask?" Garces shows his new partner the resumes and receipts. The Englishman takes handfuls of them in each hand, looking from one to another.

"That's It!" He drops them suddenly, scattering them on the formica kitchen table. "Excuse me a moment, Agent Garces."

Without any explanation Trask runs out the door. Garces watches him cross the street and enter a small souvineir shop. In moments he returns with a folded paper in his hand.

"I believe the police report said Woodruff Avenue in Westwood...now I think I realize why it sounded familiar." Trask opens what Garces now sees is a map to the stars' homes. After reaching whatever he was looking for, he looks up. "Ah yes, 347. Would you care to guess which up-and-coming luminary of the silver screen lives there?"

Trask catches Ricky's sideways look at his expression.

"What?"

[I didn't get your color quite right, Candide, but I wanted to make sure your pop culture roll didn't go to waste. You can decide why he recalls the address :)]

(that's fine. I was wondering if you had taken over Trask because I was inactive but that can't be really. I posted a day or so ago. But anyway, his color is Royal Blue. Thanks for the making sure my roll didn't go to waste. I was wondering. As far as why he know this? He could have been involved slightly behind the scenes with one or two movies here and there. Like only as an acting coach or whatnot. Since he is British OSS, they could call on him to help an actor get into character, etc. OR Trask could have a love of American film in general. He has a rather intense love of good looking women as well.)
