They are also really over-doing Earth based stories.
I wanna see some other worlds!

I think Russell Davies said that Earth episodes were more 'profitable.' I can't remember the episode...(I think it was Satan Pit) but he pointed to an offworld episode and said the costs to produce were higher and the number of viewers was lower for off world episodes.

hence tons of Earth episodes...less need of special effects and more likely to be able to use normal sets.

Maybe they need to go back to the Third Doctor concept again and just go ahead and trap the Doctor on Earth for awhile. That doesn't mean there can't be occasional off world episodes, the Third doctor still managed to get off earth sometimes.
