Kurl answers with a strange glint in his eye, "You mean you want me to pretend to be an machiavellian priest worshipping an alien, insane god with a perverse lust for power? Simply marvellous. I shall endeavor to give it my best."

Tender asks, "Ok, so we go up there pretending to be fellow priests of this god. How again is this a good idea? if we are trying to avoid being surrounded and overpowered by numbers?"

Boral looks around the island. "Maybe there is something else here that we could use to our advantage? Do we want to interrupt the ceremony or are we here to wipe out all the worshippers?"

Kurl answers with a strange glint in his eye, "You mean you want me to pretend to be an machiavellian priest worshipping an alien, insane god with a perverse lust for power? Simply marvellous. I shall endeavor to give it my best."

Not for the first time does Narančasta wonders about the wisdom of the idea. But Kurl, despite his choice of god, has so far proved as faithful a member of the company as any, putting his life on the line for sake of the village along with everyone else. You can only judge a man by what he does.

"In the murals away back there was a sceptre with something like a skull on it. Two ... chaos warriors, were holding it. Behind them there were a whole lot of chaos warriors or beast-men or the like. I didn't see it at the time, but thinking about it, it could be that they were leaping from a pit, like they were being summoned. In the other mural, one of the chaos warriors was holding the same sceptre over a sacrifice.

"If we can get the sceptre, prehaps we can banish the chaos warriors back to where they came from."

Narančasta shrugs. "Best I can think of."

[sblock=OOC]I can't really think of a question for Siva that make sense between surviving the tentacles and seeing the ziggurat. Well, nothing that isn't influenced by what I know is coming.

If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to pipe up. Otherwise, Siva will release the spell.[/sblock]

The beastmen, driven by the thundering of the drums and the piercing chant of their shaman somewhere at the top of the ziggurat, are too enthralled by their religious fervor and driving their captives up the steps to notice the dragon ship as it pulls to a stop at a stone jetty at the bottom of the ziggurat.

Tender says, "Well if we can't figure out an indirect way of interrupting the ceremony, we best hide amongst the beastmen and prepare to disrupt their party with a sneak attack. We have to save those people."

"I don't like the idea of a suicide mission. Surely there is another way." Boral glances around the rest of the isle.

Kurl says nothing, but pulls his hood tighter over his head in an attempt to obscure his face further. His thoughts are his own as he gazes upon the armored figure on top of the ziggurat.

OOC: Is there anything else here besides the ziggurate and jetty? Is the enormous figure a statue?

Examining the ziggurat closer reveals little new. There is only the short jetty where the dragon ship has docked itself and the ziggurat. The ziggurat itself has a wide stair where the majority of the beast men and their captives are, though they are headed towards the top where the drumming originates and where the large figure is. With the dim light, the height of the ziggurat and the orange glow emanating from the cracks between the stone blocks that make up the ziggurat it is impossible to tell whether the figure is a statue or not. It doesn't seem to have moved since you started watching it, however. It does look possible to ascend the sides of the ziggurat but whether you could remain unseen would be entirely up to chance.

OOC: I am running up empty on any other ideas. climbing a side where there is little light would be great though. If we were able to defeat all the beast folk, a doubtful endeavor, Getting to the top and disrupting from the top might give the captives a chance to break free and rally with us or escape to freedom.

"I think that we have to try disguising ourselves as cultists and try to get to the top," says Narančasta. There are four sets of robes as well as a tabard and an censor and incense.

"We can either give the robes to the those without armour, and those with armour play the role of armed escort.

"Or we give the robes to those with obvious armour and weapons, and the others play the role of prisoners. If we do it this way, then we may be able to get in among the rest of the villagers and tell them what's happening.

Narančasta looks around the boat at the others.

"I don't really like either plan. But we need to make a decision now."

Hank the scribe stands thinking with his brow heavily furrowed. then he says, " I think the choice with the armored ones use robes and the rest of us act as slaves is the lesser of two evils. I agree that contacting the prisoners is wise."

"ER, the lesser of two weevils?" asks frank.

" I could try and climb up the dark side. My hand being sore would hinder me though." Offers Homer.

Tender says, "No, we will all wear the robes as cultists. If some of us go up there as slaves, we would have to leave our weapons behind and that seems like a really bad idea."
