The Great British Bake Off, like Antiques Roadshow is able to capture the rural idyllic of the British Country Estate and wrap their simple premise in the comfort of a pleasant middle class utopia.

Lol. I just haven't really watched many recent shows. But these are ones that had a big impact on me growing up (particularly I Claudius and Black Adder----those are two of the best written shows in my opinion)
