Creature Cataloguer
Hey all. :)

Check out what I've been doing at Wikipedia, with Orcus, the beholder, and the mind flayer so far. :) It's a long overdue addition, I think.

A detailed publication history section makes an article much more encyclopedic and informative, and much more viable as an article. Articles consisting of only in-game information are useful in some ways, but providing a perspective like this is useful to basically anyone. :) I'm going to do this for a lot of things which have a long history, particularly gods (starting with old-timers turned 4E gods: Bahamut, Corellon, Kord, Moradin, Pelor, Sehanine, Asmodeus, Bane, Gruumsh, Lolth, Tharizdun, Tiamat, Vecna) and monsters (aboleth, death knight, dracolich, drow, gith, kuo-toa, slaad, yuan-ti).

Very cool! Hopefully the deletionists won't come after these. Though, if they do, it seems that EN World will have its own wiki either now or very soon. :)

Just read in meta that Michael Morris is installing the wiki as we speak. I think it's mostly going to be for product reviews, but I expect other RPG material will be allowed. (Heh, there are even blogs now, too.)

Edit: looks like there will be downtime starting in about an hour for the wiki installation...

Well, I wasn't particularly worried about anything I listed above getting deleted - popular subjects are rarely successfully deleted. Still, an out-of-universe section makes an article at least somewhat more viable as a keeper, so this will eventually be slapped on any article I see. :)

As for the ENWorld Wiki - well, I'll keep an eye on it! Not too interested if it's for product reviews, but if it's for other material then cool! :)

Just reread the news item on the upgrades. The wiki is for any on-topic discussion, so I'd say this stuff counts! If it's not too hard to copy/paste, at least there could be a back-up home for all your work!

I wonder if we can wikify the Creature Catalogue conversions or get Echohawk to put up the D&D Monster Index. If these were wikified we could end up with something that works like the Hypertext d20 SRD. And if the Creature Catalogue was wikified people could wikilink all of the monster skills, feats and other stats to the SRD.

I believe that you can create namespaces on wikis by using a colon. So the URL would look something like "enworld.org/wiki/cc:beholder".

But if they don't want the Creature Catalogue there we could always get it put somewhere like Wikia.
