D&D General Deities in D&D: Gods as Tulpas versus Gods as Progenitors

In my world, the gods are invading entities who threatened to destroy the universe. The people came together after millions of years of war to pray so hard the invaders were forcibly turned into good gods. Their old gods being sacrificed in the process.

So... kinda tulpafying existing gods?
