I'm really, really liking it so far. My axe-swinging wizard owns a vegetable stand and does some blacksmithing on the side when he's not busy being awesome.
My evil character, on the other hand, starts off his day by killing everyone in the local gypsy camp. I wonder if it'll be as easy to empty out the larger cities...
Pros:
- The dog is pleasant. Nice to find treasure all over the place. He's easy to connect with, considering your character is a mute anyways.
- Combat is fun and well done.
- Easy death penalty. You just respawn with a scar. Really, for a huge game like this, I don't need a big death penalty to add 20 hours of play time. Just let me play already.
- Huge variety of stuff to do.
- Good voice acting.
- Good story so far...
Cons (mostly minor):
- I wish they'd just let the main character talk. Seriously. The expressions mechanic is an annoying flaw in the game.
- I'm interested in the family mechanics, but the only interesting female character in the game, I can't seem to actually interact with... Annoying. So, I guess I'm just supposed to pick a random villager by first name (because they pretty much look alike)? And even if I could interact, it'd be: Heroic Pose! Dance! Trophy! Maybe as I progress there will be other characters I can interact with though...
- Random quests in my log when I've never even heard of them? That's just stupid. At least let me find the quests.
Huh?:
- Don't really understand all of the magic powers fully yet. It seems like the powers are: you can shoot fireballs or you can do less powerful stuff. I need to try the other powers out more though.
