[4e] Monster Mash! 4e MvM tournament (Closed)

The matches have been great fun so far and a great learning tool for myself from a DM POV. Looking at the Ettin now I realize my first impressions of it are quite overrated, I thought the 2 actions per round would be good, but I'm only going to hit the destrachan about 25-30% of the time. So much for 1/2 my xp budget.

I'm taking my daughter to visit her grandparents.
They have sheep, horses, ducks, dogs (Australian Shepards only), cats and dwarf cows. They also have intermittent internet.
I should be back to regular posting by the 25th.

Also, it seems the dragon is still standing strong...

Yeah, Oni's team is frightening.

The dragon still has a lot of HP, but he's not really doing much with them. He's mostly killed a lot of minions. I pick CaBaNa in round 30 or so.

Damn that Lich! It's clear that the rules for leveling monsters aren't nearly as balanced as WOTC wanted. Also, it's more and more clear that Ettin's are clearly underpowered for their level. Elites who will only hit about 30% of the time...

Starting to feel guilty for using him.

Though I still don't think it's the leveling rules, the lich is just that good even at his own level.

It's funny the reason I picked it in the first place is because I really wanted an undead team just for thematic reasons and I had to find one that could actually hurt other undead, most of the doing necrotic damage don't.

I would never unleash this an encounter on PC's, it would be kind of cruel.

No guilt, the game is about finding powerful monster too...Also, in the end, those moon wraiths are almost as nasty.

Agreed Oni. Don't worry about it, you've grabbed one of the most effective monsters in the level range. It essentially disables an enemy as a minor action (its bonuses are so high it almost never misses).

Pure win. Plus those wraiths are crazy good. I wish I had thought of them

Yes, they are a brutal team. The wraiths are decieving, though - I figured it would be easy to take down the wraiths first, then move on to the lich. That was wrong on so many levels, haha. The lich is not safe to ignore, and the wraiths don't go down easy - insubstantial, weakening attacks, and regen 5. Like I said, don't underestimate the wraiths, they're almost as brutal as the lich

And yes, low-level monsters are totally hosed against the lich. So very totally hosed. Cabana, I sincerely hope you don't have to fight Oni
