D&D 4E 4e Gestalt - Elite Heroes

I have tested a level 26 Gestalt Dragonborn Thaneborn Barbarian/Dragon Magic Sorcerer
Paragaon: Dragonsoul Heir/Fearbringer Thane
Epic: Demigod/Primal Avatar

Through my testing I discovered that 2 Epic paths is too much power. The Demigod Daily gave this character Regen of 27 (His highest ability score was Strength), and their Primal Avatar Daily gave them Insubstantial. I put him against a level 26 Ancient Black Dragon. This character only took half damage from attacks and would heal them up each round. A single character should not be able to solo a dragon of equal level, gestalt or not.

So, in light of my testings, Gestalt can only choose ONE Epic Destiny. I have also updated the rules.

I don't know if I'll be implementing your new RAW. It seems now that you're just trying to powerhouse the character. I know that a lot of people think gestalt should be an even split, but giving the character twice the normal powers just feels like too much. I'm gonna stick with the previous set for now and see how it stands up.

It does? I assure you I am not trying to powerhouse characters. Allowing Gestalt characters access to powers from both classes as they level gives them more options, but that is it. They can still only perform so many actions per round.

I made changes to Defense - they don't stack. I made changes to AC bonuses provided by other classes that don't wear heavy armor - they don't stack. If anything I think my latest build is the most balanced. Gestalt characters even get less skills then my original rules.

Well should 2 Godlings beable to gang bang a dragon of there level ... at that point in the game Dragons != much different than another pc are they?
-- heck I dont know, way beyond what I have played (yet) ;-)

I'm sorry, I guess looking at the power section made me ignore the other changes you made. It doesn't look so bad now that I went back and read it again.

Forgive my momentary lapse of judgement, lol.

I don't think 2 Godlings (or Gestalt) should be able to gang bang a dragon of their level ever. If 2 Gestalt characters are made following the rules that I have written as of now (v. 1.25) then any dragon of their level should be a fair fight.

Now, if 2 Gestalt characters can ever take on a dragon that is 3+ levels higher then they are and not get bloodied or have to use most of their encounter (and possibly daily) powers then the gestalt rules would certainly need to be changed to balance it.

Hopefully the rules are finally balanced.

No Worries. I just get worried if people think that the rules are too powerful. Granted Gestalt characters are more powerful then normal characters but generally such a group is only 2 or 3 players. Now if it was a group of 5+ players all playing Gestalt that would be way unbalanced.

My son and I ran in to a conundrum where we have two characters.. that well in some ways just dont feel like their style fits having a second classes features smashed in, one is a shaman and the other a Warden. The Warden could be a Ranger (striker to add in with his defender though the player is really connecting to the defender concept), but the shaman is concieved as an even more back row leader in concept than the class exhibits... not sure what could be done without messing with the character concept...

What about expanding the rules to allow the characters to pick one class twice? This will keep the option of a single class character alive, while allowing the power level needed for these rules. I like the idea of a wizard that is just a wizard, and these rules don't get at that perfectly. Otherwise, I like them.
