Anyway I have moved onto NiQuil.
Apparently the back pain that I was treating with alcohol was a symptom, not the basic problem.
The white russian worked great for pain, not so much for a fever and cough.

My grandmother had a "cure" for sorethroats. A shot of whiskey.

She had told him to drink a shot each time he went into the kitchen. Since she only entered it for preparing meals she would have 2-3 shots a day which was just enough to numb the throat so it worked. He found himself entering the kitchen often. He was drunken by 5pm. Guess that numbed his throat for the night

They make Pan Galactic Gargleblasters here in Ottawa at "Zaphod Beeblebrox, the Nightclub at the End of the Universe". It's not my favourite drink there, unfortunately. I prefer the Deep Thought, although I've also been told the Bambleweenie 57 is a big hit.

Personally, however, I drink Crown Floats mostly.
