Well I pretty much liked the final episode. But then again I like Time Travel stories. Seeing Kaylin in all those different pretty dresses was nice too. Nice Cameo by this years Yellow Power Ranger there.

So, I guess they decided not to make Darken Rahl his Father like in the books. Maybe they'll reveal that next season....if there is one. Is there? Anyone know?

One thing I'd have liked would have been a big major fight between the two, but alas.

That perhaps should have been spoilerized. Don't matter to me, I had that spoiled several months ago. In last week's episode he claimed
to be Richard's brother
which of course was probably a lie given the context of the scene, but the lie was close enough to the truth.

Is there going to be a next season, will they move on to the overall plot of Book Two? etc.

If there's not going to be a next season, they at least did a pretty decent job of wrapping things up. It is syndicated though, so that gives it a slightly better chance than network TV which would have canned it by now.

Just out of curiosity, how did book one end anyway? Was
Rahl defeated
? And was it like this or different?

I don't remember exactly how it ended, but I'll attempt to recall the books I read nearly 10 years ago.

Here we go:
After Darken Rahl is defeated, his son Richard becomes King of the Midlands, I believe. The soldiers were magically bound to Lord Rahl, and Richard became the new Lord Rahl. However, with Darken Rahl defeated, the magical barriers separating the Midlands from both Hartland and the East fell with him... and, in the East, there was an evil empire under some guy named Jagang that was far more powerful than the D'Haran empire that cruelly oppressed the Midlands under Darken Rahl. I believe the Sisters of Light played a bigger role down the road as well, and they were infiltrated by evil Sisters of the Dark. I think Jagang's forces had ways of stopping the Sisters of Light and enslaving their magical powers as well?

However, it's been a decade and my memory is not what it used to be, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

I just read book one, but I can't remember how to do spoiler tags....

just put a these kind of brackets - "[" and "]" -around the word "spoiler" After the spoiler text is done, just repeat the same thing, but put a "/" in front of the word spoiler.

And, just make sure you don't include the quotation marks.

Like [ spoiler ]this, if you will[ /spoiler ], but without the spaces between the square brackets [ ] and the word "spoiler." Or just quote any of the
spoilered
posts above to see the code.

Or, if you're going to have a lot of text you can do an "sblock" like this:

[sblock]This is a spoiler block.[/sblock]

Just put (sblock) and (/sblock) around the words, but use square brackets instead of parentheses.

Book 1 is quite different than the show:

[sblock]I've only watched about 6 episodes so far. In the first book, Richard's brother gives Darken the last box and betrays them. At no point does Richard have more than one box anywhere near his posession. Darken is much more powerful in the books. They all end up in Darken's home and he gets the confessor to touch Richard, but his love for her overcomes the power. He kills Rahl. But, as usual, they talk to the dying bad guy. Darken is revealed to be his father (but only in conversation with the wizard - why do good guys give a guy like this information?). Since I haven't watched an episode since the doll episode (which is very different in the book), I can't say what is the same vs. different very well. Ask specific questions and i can answer them if you want.[/sblock]

The spoilers typed by Jeff don't happen in book 1, and that's the only one I've read so far, so I can't verify his notes or not.
