Lady Blackbird is on the run from an arranged marriage to Count Carlowe. She hired a smuggler skyship, The Owl, to take her from her palace on the Imperial world of Ilysium across the Wild Blue to the far reaches of the Remnants, so she could be with her once secret lover: the pirate king Uriah Flint.

However, just before reaching the halfway point of Haven, The Owl was pursued and captured by the Imperial cruiser Hand of Sorrow, under charges of flying a false flag.

Even now, Lady Blackbird, her bodyguard, and the crew of The Owl are detained in the brig, while the Imperial commander runs the smuggler ship’s registry over the wireless. It’s only a matter of time before they discover the outstanding warrants and learn that The Owl is owned by none other than the infamous outcast, Cyrus Vance.

How will Lady Blackbird and the others escape the Hand of Sorrow? And if they do escape, what other dangers lie in their path?

<=+=>

A filthy hippie-indie steampunk'y game, inspired by Firefly/Serenity and Star Wars Ep. IV, medium- to heavy-narrative (equivalent to what might be expected of you to describe/perform in a Dread game ... with maybe just a little bit more), using a dice pool system in which a character's Keys are played to (traits, talents, attributes that provide bonus dice). There will be action and adventure BUT do not expect the dice to tell the story -- that's up to you ...

Dramatis personae:

1) Lady Blackbird (true identity: Countess Natasha Syri), an Imperial noble in disguise, escaping an arranged marriage so she can be with her lover [Queenie]

2) Naomi Bishop, former pit-fighter and bodyguard to Lady Blackbird [Orchid Blossom]

3) Cyrus Vance, an ex-Imperial soldier turned smuggler/soldier-of-fortune, Captain of The Owl [Fenris]

4) Kale Arkam, burglar and petty sorcerer, first mate and mechanic of The Owl [Cass]

5) Snargle, a goblin, sky-sailor and pilot of The Owl [Frai]

Queenie

Queen of Everything
Sign me up for Lady Blackbird. Of course, you usually don't take dibs but no one listens to you anyway so... dibs!! :p (Unless we're choosing at the table in which case just sign me up)

With one caveat: we're still figuring out the food situation so I may have to pull out of the game but I will do so in advance if I have to. Cool?

Fenris

Adventurer
Sounds like some great Space Opera. Count me in for this. If we can call characters I would prefer to play Cyrus Vance.

Well, since we're so close to the event, I'm definitely taking dibs at this point.

In re: dropping out, that would suck, but I think we could probably work around it as needed. If you're cooking, we'll just play in the kitchen! ;)

Awesome -- I didn't know you were attending! Most excellent!

Do players all have to wear natural fiber clothing and go commando for your filthy-hippie-indie-handholding game of Kumbya?
No, only you. I fully expect Queenie to wear something revealing and incredibly distracting, and I don't know Fenris well enough (yet) to see if he'll wear a gimp suit.

So... are you in, or just snarking? ;)
