Since the attack is coming from a trap and not an enemy per-se, I'm going to say that the trap is not considered an enemy. You are certainly welcome to use the healing surge though.

Just wanted you to see where I stood based on the PHB. Lemme know if you have some other part that contradicts what I say and I'll be happy to change it

I've got nothing to contradict it, and I was 50/50 on it anyway, so we'll run with that ruling and Caden will burn a healing surge.

Also, no need for short rest now.

Hey gang,

Just wanted to give you all a quick update. I got my wisdom teeth removed (all four, ouch) yesterday and I still need a little more time to recover. I'll have a map status update for all of you guys tomorrow night (hopefully).

All 4 at once!!! Ouch! I was 'lucky' in that I had several adult molars removed as a teenage to make room for existing teeth when braces were fitted. One of the 'benefits' of all that is that there was plenty of room for all 4 wisdom teeth to come through without any agro.

To answer your question in the IC, yes, each square technically counts as "two" squares in the revealed map. Once everyone gets into a zoomed in portion of the map, then we'll switch to one square-5-foot regular amount. I'll let you all know when that happens.

Hey guys, Caden has called Mia forward to aid with the orc as this is an obvious sentry and silencing him early might be useful. While Caden will do decent damage with either surprise or his First Strike ability, Mia (or someone else) might have something more potent than simple damage. IC Caden would know this, but OOC I'm not sure who can offer what here.

Also, I can't recall right now, but does a surprise round only allow a single standard action? [confirmed and can't action point]

PS eblue, isn't Caden's stealth check compared with the orc's passive perception rather than you rolling it? ie just like an 'attack' vrs a 'defense'.
