To Catch a Crimelord, or Down the Rabbit Hole (garyh judging)

Raiyek sees Grim take off after one foe and turns to engage the other after seeing that it can hit more than one of them at once. After pointing his sword at the creature in challenge, the elf takes a close look at the creature before charging in to attack.

[sblock=OOC]Okay, I will give it a shot but only use the pretty vanilla powers and mostly at-wills. Though Invisible Castle is down anyway, I thought I should just leave it.
Minor: Divine Challenge on the Shadow Creature
Minor (for move): Hunter's Quarry on the Shadow Creature
Standard: Charge to AQ57 and use Ardent Strike 1d20+9=15 vs AC for 1d10+4+1d6=18 damage

Turns out we still need Kruk's actions as well... I'm about to head to see the Lions turkeyday game so I unfortunately won't be able to update until tomorrow (if dimsdale posts today). Sorry guys. Missed that.

Sorry about that. i was thinking that I had already gone.
We can't have Kruk slowing everyone down. :)

Kruk stops running. "Whoooow...what the heck was that!" He grips his battleaxe with new resolve and looks for an enemy to attack. He finds one. He takes a few deep breaths. Then moves north to get a better angle to attack. He charges the creature in the shadows

[sblock=OOC]Hi guys. Sorry about leaving you in the lurch there ... I suck at time management.

So yeah. I haven't really been 'away', I just got a new job, so some days I just feel like being a zombie when I get home ;) I'll try not to leave you guys (and Raiyek) out on a limb like that though.

By the way, good choices, johnmeier. That's about what I was thinking of doing.[/sblock]

Grim runs to the west, calling out "Take that shadow down! I'll take care of this thing!"
He pauses long enough to raise the point of his sword towards the one-eyed man and roar a war cry as he charges home. It was all blood and sharp steel.

As the shadowy thing creeps back into the brush, Carolina draws her crossbow and fires. The bolt strikes deep into the shadowy mass and it roils in response.

Lily flinched back from its hollow touch, the look on her face though was not one of fear, but of strange fascination. Unable to tear her eyes from the thing she fumbled around in her pack and drew out the skull she carried. Starting to come to her senses, Lily raised the skull high calling for the spirit she called Lith. Her shadow darkly sped across the ground and bloomed all teeth and hunger shapes in front of the other entity. As that happened she called out to the angry spirits to harass the creature. The alien mind of the foe is stronger than the spirits of the land.

Raiyek sees Grim take off after one foe and turns to engage the other after seeing that it can hit more than one of them at once. After pointing his sword at the creature in challenge, the elf takes a close look at the creature before charging in to attack.

athletics (1d20+0=13) He tries to jump down the ledge but instead falls prone, the attack misses as well.

Georg moves in a wide circle around the large shadow creature. He stops and swings his staff in a wide arc creating a great blaze just reaching the creature. The fires seem to catch it by surprise and the creature shies away from it.

Kruk stops running. "Whoooow...what the heck was that!" He grips his battleaxe with new resolve and looks for an enemy to attack. He finds one. He takes a few deep breaths. Then moves north to get a better angle to attack. He charges the creature in the shadows

He hits with the sound of booming thunder with flashes of lightning flickering through the beast, showing its true size.

The dwarves has drawn the attention of the creature as it disappears into the shadows. It reappears next to Georg. One strikes the wizard, but the other is deflected by his new armour. It then swings another pair of tendrils out and grabs hold of Georg, squeezing tightly.

The man points his hands forward and a wave of cold spreads over Grim as he feels himself slowed by the chilling effect.

*Don't know if I mentioned it or not, but the path is 10' over the other area, hence Raiyek's athletics check. It wouldn't have affected his roll though. Just an FYI.

Shadow - t-ports to current spot, hits Georg once for 7, then AP's this time hitting twice for 14 more, he's now grabbed by the creature. (included -2 for mark)

Man - uses Grave Chill on Grim, he's hit for 6 necrotic & slowed and takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls (save ends both)

Status: Man - bloodied, really, really bloodied
Shadow - used 1 AP, shadow jaunt
Grim - slowed and takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls (save ends both)

Georg - 21 - 9/30 - 9/9 surges, bloodied, grabbed
Kruk - 21 - 48/48 - 11/12 surges
Bad Guys - 20 <- higher init mod.
Grim - 20 - 21/35 - 7/7 surges <- you're up
Carolina - 20 - 29/29 - 7/7 surges
Lily - 15 - 17/26 -9/9 surges
Raiyek - 13 - 39/39 - 11/11 surges

Rayek; grim; kruk; georg; carolina; lily (1d20 3=13, 1d20 4=20, 1d20 1=21, 1d20 1=21, 1d20 6=14, 1d20 1=15) *Double Crit... why didn't I get that for the bad guys

Kruk's head darts to and fro as he attempts to locate the creature. He turns and sees that the creature has the Georg. "Let him go!" Kruk states as he runs forward to attack, again sinking his axe into the creature.

Terribly hostile

That's Lily's spirit companion.

Speaking of which, I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think that the teleporting baddie may have activated the Spirit's Fang power. It left the square without shifting, teleportation does not prevent opportunity actions (of which Spirit's Fang is one), only opportunity attacks, which are a subsection of opportunity actions, and opportunity actions are immediate interrupts so range shouldn't be an issue.

I'm holding off on posting my action for a bit, I kind of wanted to get a sense of how Grim's turn turned out before deciding what to do.

[sblock=ooc]
Yes Raiyek is prone, the spirit is lily's companion

Grim hits. Not sure about the opportunity actions as well...

Georg blocks one tentacle with an invisible shield, but the other two hold him fast. He grunt, summons additional nerve and lashes out with a wave of thunder to the left side of the creature.

[sblock=OOC] I think I would probably try to get away in any case or use this power at close range even if grabbed. Kruk may be inside the shadow currently?
Immediate Interrupt: Staff of Defense (renau1g says would block first hit)
Minor Action: Second Wind (Heal 7, +2 to Defenses and activates Rune Scribed Soul)
Standard Action: Thunderwave (AM53 and left/away)
1d20+7=26 (vs Fortitude) for 1d6+8=10 (thunder damage) and push 1 right to AM54
No longer grabbed in all likelyhood (not sure where Kruk is)
Move Action: Move to AK54 (top row) moving on diagonals to not provoke
