[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

Jude takes a step and swings his bastard sword at the nearest enemy.

[sblock=ooc]
*sorry about the poor descriptive text, can't tell which enemy is which on the map... to be fair I haven't slept well in over a week, one son has pneumonia, his twin brother has a viral stomach thing...

Move: Shift to J10
Standard: basic attack at bad guy at J9 -vs ac; dmg (1d20+10=17, 1d10+4=7) incl. +2 for flank.

Aridha slides back and resumes her normal shape, calling forth a blast of lightning on top of the bugbear. *1

Jude steps in and slashes at the bugbear, but his attack goes wide. *2

Druthruss also steps in and swings his axe, but that attack too goes wide *3

While the bugbear is busy dodging blows from Jude and Druthruss, Vatan sneaks his sword in and sticks him in the gut. *4

The bugbear looses a great howl as Sahyr plunges his blade into it. The shifter seems to be getting stronger as the fight progresses.*5

Pier blasts the goblin with a magic missile and nearly knocks the thing from its feet, but still the stubborn thing lives! *6

The bugbear ignores Jude's mark and chases after the shapeshifter, barely catching her with the edge of his massive axe. As Aridha falls, she witnesses the remnants of her spell rain down upon her assailant.*7

The stubborn goblin warrior closes the gap between it and Pier, and then then shoves its spear deep into the mage's belly. Pier gurgles up a thick fount of blood before finally falling to the deck unconscious. *8

The fire continues to grow. If someone doesn't get to Pier soon, he will be engulfed by the flames!

*1- Bugbear takes 10 damage
*2- I took the liberty of moving your target so that you were attacking a bud guy instead of Druthruss. Regardless, 17 vs. AC is a miss, but the bugbear is still marked.
*3- You get a +2 flanking bonus, but 18 vs. AC is still a miss
*4- Bugbear takes 3 damage
*5- Begbear takes 16 damage; Sahyr regains 2 hp
*6- W2 takes 13 damage
*7- Bugbear attacks with a -2 penalty for ignoring Jude's mark; Aridha takes 13 damage and is dying; bugbear takes 4 damage for only moving 1 square
*8- Pier takes 10 damage and is dying

[sblock=OOC]
Did the bugbear shift from K8 to L9? If he did not shift, he'd provoke some OA's, just clarifying for myself.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]
If it was a shift, Jude gets an OA and can potentially stop him with his interrupt.

vs ac; dmg (1d20 8=27, 1d10 4=6) Nice hit. [/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]I think I read that a little differently than you do. True, you do get a free melee basic attack since the bugbear shifted under Jude's mark. But it's just that--a free basic attack, not an opportunity attack, which is granted under entirely different circumstances (and are specifically NOT granted when an enemy shifts). While they're both melee basic attacks, the fact that your free attack granted from Combat Challenge is not classified as an OA, you won't stop the bugbear from moving, or from attacking Aridha.

At least that's the way I read it... I'm open for discussion about it in the OOC thread, because Lord knows I've been wrong before.[/sblock]

Pier makes the deck a bit more slippery.

[sblock=Saving throw v. Death]
Assuming he doesn't get healed prior to his turn. If he does, I'll revise my action.

Jude sees the fallen elf and sees the wounds on her body. He's been around a few battles before and quickly rips off a bit of his cloak, wrapping it around the wound, stopping the blood flow.

[sblock=ooc]
Move: Shift to JK0
Standard: Heal check on Aridha to activate her Second Windheal (1d20 7=27) yeah sure crit the heal check...should let her use second wind (but without the +2 to defenses)

Seeing Aridha fall to the ground and Jude move to help her, Vatan shifts to L10 in an effort to act as a shield for both of them. From there he will swing with both axe and sword at "S" in the hope that he will distract him long enough for his allies get out of the bugbears range.

Druthruss yells out to Jude to "Help the lady elf while I bury my axe is this scum" and quite fleetingly for a Dwarf moves past him and heads down to cut off the attack on Pier.

With a mighty swing the axe thuds into the gobbo. "Dont worry Pier, most of this blood aint yours !"

[sblock]
Druthruss move to N11 and attack W2.

Main action: I got an account with invis now instead of adhoc rolling. 1d20 = 16 + 2 for axe, 8+2 dam. (I put W1 in my note but its W2).

If that fells gobbo then ill use my minor action to grab Pier.
