STARGATE UNIVERSE # 18:Subversion /Season 1/2010

Yeah, but wouldn't he say that if he were thoroughly brainwashed, too?

I haven't seen (or don't remember) the previous shows that dealt with the brainwashing tech in question (Goa'uld, IIRC?), so I'm not sure how it works or what it's capable of (besides that Jack was apparently subjected to it at some point). So maybe you can stress someone out of it or break it, or it's not that thorough.

My Stargate Fu is sadly weak -- I didn't watch it regularly after the first couple of seasons, so many nuances are beyond me. One of these years, I'm going to have to spring for the DVDs or hit Netflix and watch 'em all.

I don't recall that stressing out the subject would break the influence but that would support why they left off the episode where they did. I'm still all about Chloe being in the LA, so I'm game for anything that promotes that eventuality. If she is, she'll get a wardrobe like Rhona Mitra was wearing, so there's a very good reason to jump on this bandwagon.

I think brainwashing was involved. When Rush guessed the Lucian Alliance commander's name, she then asked Rush what his name was. Col. Telford was obviously not the right answer. Telford's explanation for his motivations doesn't sound too convincing either, since he has never seemed the altruistic or idealistic type. And of course, there is whatever is causing the weird dreams in people who use the ancient communication stones to swap bodies with Telford.

My feeling is this is how the crew gets needed supplies. Hell, the Wraith bomb (SGA, the Wraith beamed into a ball, the ball was sent throught the Stargate and then just started releasing the Wraith. Used in SGA: Midway?) should be part of SG team tricks. You would also think SG would have puddle jumpers by now.

This is old hat for Stargate and rather disappointing.

If the Lucian Alliance knows so much about Destiney I don't know why they would want it.

Ok, I read the rpg.net thread and our dear ENWorld thread now. Seriously, the Lucians want Destiny?

How ironic, they are putting a lot of effort into a project that even if successful, they will scratch their heads and ask themselves, "So, who's for pizza?"

Oooh, who was the inferior race that managed to capture Star Trek's "get the cheese to sick bay!" ship ...the Kazon! Maybe the Lucians will be the Kazon and the Blue aliens will come back and save the ship for the humans.

It does have an interface that apparently can be modified, unlike the one that grabbed RDA's head. Maybe it is thought that having that tech could lead to regulating the download of info from the more advanced model?

Of course, when LA messed with Icarus they didn't know just what Destiny might be (since no one did).

I can see why the LA wants the ship, just to try to get their hands on pre-gene ancient tech...their area of space seems to have a good bit but without the gene, can't work it. The humans have better everything and seem to be quickly advancing by mixing Asgar and Ancient with their own. The LA is reaching for anything they can.

Hopefully season 2 will have the LA taking over Destiney and then starving becasue they won't think to bring supplies with them.

The only reason the Earthlings didn't have supplies was that the Icarus planet exploded, and that was due to the LA attack, not the dialing of the 9 chevron address.

If they have a more stable planet, and it isn't under attack, they could potentially send regular supplies through.

I think it more likely that the Earth-side stories in the second season might involve seizing that planet. It might not get the Destiny crew home, but it would give them a better chance of survival.

Stable -- I don't know, with that much naquadria about, I don't think any planet would be stable in any attack. I do like the thought of a one way gate.
