The hinges on the doors are on the group's side of the room, but they are protected by the metal bands in front of them. The hinges are attached to the wall on this side, but they are more like vertical hooks that the metal band cross pieces are attached to (see attached picture of a single door). The iron bands are attached to the wooden doors with thick heavy nails. So, it would be very easy to lift the door off the hinges if the door were open, but if the door is closed, it's impossible to lift the door in the doorway.
The wide heavy nails in the bands, on the other hand, are accessible. It would take some serious deconstruction to remove the nails for all of the bands and then attack the hinges. Even then, the door would still be barred shut on the opposite side.
The bar itself cannot be attacked with an axe or any thick tools due to the very slim slit between the two doors, even if they are pulled on. The only way to break the doors down with an axe would be to put a good sized hole in the doors large enough for the axe head to swing through and eventually break through the bar. This, of course, will take time and effort, and will make a lot of noise.
A thin tool to cut the bar would work, but it would need to be a heavily serrated blade to cut through the wood of the bar. A simple dagger will not do it. The distance between the two doors when pulled on is only about a quarter of an inch or so. Way too thin for even a sword.
The outer doors are well constructed like this also. The single door is not constructed anywhere near this well. Any of the larger PCs think they could break it down with 2 or 3 good heavy slams, kicks, or hammer blows, or possibly Malehan could just pick the lock on it.

Note: This door is supposed to be a difficult challenge to also challenge the players, not just the PCs. The players need to come up with a good plan to get past them if they want to get past them quickly. Some skill rolls won't do it. The players need to think past this puzzle.
The PCs can always bash down the door with any sort of hammer-like or axe-like tools or weapons that they have available. But, that will be noisy and time consuming and will definitely alert anyone inside this building due to the fact that it is not muffled construction noise like the construction the Goblins were doing. A certain amount of noise is expected because the Goblins were making noise, but if you repeatedly bang on the door, it will reverberate further into the building. A few bangs on the door probably wouldn't be noticed, but continuous noisy deconstruction probably will be.
