The issue with wizards and sorcerers

Yeah, those Celestials are total bastards.

"How dare you pay me to help save the universe!"

-- N

Celestials can be bastards- just look at the bible and some other religions. Maybe, your character should have just summoned and asked (that is less presumptous and more respectful than binding). Perhaps, the war is also be taking place on another front and you just pulled one of the soldiers away. There are many reasons why they may not be happy about having a mortal bind them and forcing them into an agreement for freedom.

If that's the universe you play in, then why the heck didn't your character just do that in the first place?

Find a creature with goals similar to your own, then negotiate with it, then call and bind it.

Intelligence and legwork are vital in more than just this one situation.

The internet is loaded with people who hate magic and want to see it banned, so they bitch and whine about how "broken" wizards are. Simple. "WAAAH I CANT DO 10D6 DAMAGE TO EVERYONE IN A 20 FOOT RADIUS WITH SWORD SWIPE WAAAH!"...they expect fighters to be frickin anime characters who can omnislash and destroy a wave of demons with a swipe of an axe.

Seems to me that Pounce is only broken if you use Monks as your baseline for what is balanced, but I may be wrong. Compare a level 13 Barbarian with Pounce to level 13 to a Sorcerer who's Planar Binding Trumpet Archons, Ghaele, and Noble Djinn on top of her regular tricks (battlefield control, debuffing, utility, etc). How does a melee class with the ability to make a full attack on a charge remain competitive in such a situation?

Furthermore, if we accept as true that melee classes can compare, why do you recommend banning classes with Pounce and not the spellcasters, which you admit are more powerful and can break the game many times per day?

Doing 10d6 damage to a bunch of mooks in a 40 foot diamatre sphere is NOT breaking the game, god damn it! GRR!
