Thrown piercing weapons

I feel that a nonbarbed piercing weapon would fall out naturally when the enemy moves.

My original question was in response to a fight with an Erinyes that took off to shoot from above. My fighter choose to stick with the thrown weapons so that he could still use his shield for AC. He only had a few javelins anyways and when they ran out he ended up standing under the Deviless throwing his +1 Holy Scimitar at the bitch. Needless to say it was an interesting fight: pick it up, throw it, pick it up, throw it...

And kind of a response to Stream: sure weapon damage/range sucks for throwing weapons, but the pro to using them is that its a one handed operation letting you use a shield too. This was the first time I even considered using a javelin and I actually enjoy it. I'm able to finish off one foe with my first attack and using quickdraw throw a javelin at another foe with my second attack.

Darts.... haven't understood why they exist yet... Light Hammers are at least Bludg. to compensate for sucking so much.

Heh, reminds me of my last Bloodstorm Blade. Sure, at level 4 in the PrC you can full attack with thrown weapons. but you don't get there in an instant. Before entering, he just started combat throwing tridents and javelins before closing to melee. Once he got BB level 1 (Throw Anything feat), a lot of times he'd just chuck his sword at enemies every round, using a crystal of return to summon it back to his hand with his move action.

There is no official answer to your question, but my personal rule is: whichever the target chooses.

I agree on this one, usually we rule that the weapon falls on the ground after the hit, if this blow brings the creature in negative hp I often say that the weapon is still in the target but there is no bleeding or other house rule added.
