Iron DM 2011--All slots filled--LET'S PLAY!

Rune

Once A Fool
The time has come around, again!

This year's judges are:

  • Radiating Gnome: Judge for Iron DM 2009 and Iron DM 2010 and, in days of yore, a frequent competitor.
  • Wicht: Iron DM of Fall 2002 and a competitor in...well, pretty much every tournament.
  • Rune: Judge for Iron DM Summer 2003, Iron DM of Spring 2002, and, once upon a time, a frequent competitor.

What is Iron DM?

The founder says it best:

el-remmen said:
Simple. We get 8 people willing to play (and 3 alternates). I pair people off as competitors and give them a set of 6 "ingredients".

The ingredients are elements that must be used in the designing of a scenario/adventure - which should be written up in overview form - players can be as specific as they like - but detailed stat-blocks and the like are not weighed as heavily as uniqueness and playability of the ideas.

The results are then judged by me and the winner moves on to the next round. . .

In round one, the match-ups will be judged by one judge only. In future rounds, each match-up will be judged by the entire panel.

Judgements are traditionally nemmerlesque--that is, critical, but constructively so.

Is it difficult? You bet! It is Iron DM, after all!

Can a complete unkown hope to do well? Absolutely! It has happened many times (I was one such, in fact!).

Are you up for the challenge? If so, sign up for Iron DM 2011!

It can't start until we get our contestants, but I imagine once we have the right number, things will get moving pretty quickly.

It may be important to know that Iron DM is traditionally system and setting neutral. It has a strong fantasy flavor (and the ingredients will reflect that), but we have always had some entries that don't take place in a fantasy setting.

Nice to see some folks from the old days giving this a try again. I am really busy with grad school and life these days and not doing any gaming (aside from board games and M:TG), but I will try to swing by and check it out as it develops.

Also, why is this in Plots & Places? I think you'd get a lot more turn-out in General. . .

So, I guess that means you won't have time to participate? Anyway, welcome back, even if somewhat sporadically!

The Plots & Places forum got absorbed into General a while back; this thread has the Plots & Places icon, but is actually located in General.

We still need more participants. This contest is a great way to get your creative juices flowing and see how well you can craft RPG adventures on demand.
