But if you live on a mountain and have a wall angle to the edge of a cliff, they will follow the wall and off the cliff! ;)

Since when to zombies search around a wall*? If they know you are in there, they try to go directly over the wall.

1) build wall & moat around house

2) populate moat with pirañas

3) don't go swimming.

4)Have pirañas eat zombie flesh, and turn into zombie pirañas.

5) Have moat fill with more zombies than the pirañas can eat.

6) Zombies walk (and flop, for the zombie pirañas no longer need to breathe!) over other zombies in moat to your front door.

*I'll tell you where: in the classic Deadlands RPG. Zombies there are smart enough to use weapons!

I think that's the point of keeping the wall a mile away... At that distance (presumably), they won't see, hear or smell you and eventually will wander off somewhere else.

not search, angle the wall so that the zombies follow it, hell make it a tube/air vent looking, that way you know they will go into it.

Other than having a forever tree muncher on your front door step or living in a volcano, nothing is going to be 100%. Those islands in the china sea are about as close to perfect spot to start building for me, add a rat lip around it. The other is a ship. Just have to watch out for the mutant zombies.

The conceit of every zombie novel, TV show & movie ever made is that nothing is totally zombie proof. If the zombies don't make it in, then it will be human looters, gangs or refugees... or else somebody on the inside goes crazy and fatally weakens the defenses somehow. Or, some combo of the above - human looters get repelled, but fatally weaken the defenses and a crazy loon on the inside makes a mistake and lets the hordes in.

If it were me, I'd build some sort of castle in the mountains where I can have a very limited access that I can easily control (retractable bridge across a ravine...) and with access to fresh water via stream and/or some sort of deep well.

yeah! that's as biased an assumption that every computer to achieve sentience is going to dedicate itself to wiping out our flawed human makers.

Though it is true that humans are pretty stupid. They make better zombies or artifical intelligences than anything else.

That's just sad, people becoming zombies and end up getting an INT bonus!

Got to get that on a T-Shirt, Smarter as a zombie!
