Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

OOC: I don't think there's more than 3 characters level 1-3 currently unemployed, and one of them is inside a bird cage right now

OOC: I know of at least 4 sitting in the tavern, right now (not including my own). I'm fine waiting to get one or two more, and if one PC is higher than 3rd, I can try to work them in, but any higher than 5th is probably pushing it. I could also see if my wife wants to join, but she may not have time to play.

OOC: I am having mild re-writes with Nalkyr, mechanically, and have only gotten one approval so far. Hopefully he'd be approved by the time the adventure started though. Unless that's a problem.
OOC: As long as he's approved by the time you need to have applied the awards you received from this adventure, you're fine. You can start an adventure while still Requesting Approval.

Marrgash was about to take the cage, as Valkin enters the bar. He pauses, his hand over the top of it. At the Valkin's talk of trouble and the bartenders suggestion, Marrgash nods. "I should be only too happy to help you, my friend," he says to Valkir. "Perhaps you might tell us more about where your ship was last seen, and what cargo it carried?"

"I would be happy to take care of this little fellow, but it would seem more pressing matters are at hand," he says to the barkeep. "Unless..."

He looks down at the peculiar creature in the cage. "You are clearly intelligent," he says to the pixie. "If it is true that you pick locks you could be a useful fellow to have around. Do you speak?" he asks.

From another table, a young human woman with the eyes of a lioness rose from her seat to approach the dwarf. She hung back a pace or two for the moment, listening to his replies to the earlier volunteers...

OOC: Lenyara, human ranger (Scout) 3 (melee striker), checking in. Character sheet is about 75% done, and I won't have time to finish it before tomorrow night earliest. I also have 2 characters already adventuring here, so I'll be glad to let others take precedence...

OOC: I think most people are working on their second characters here (with the exception of Pliantreality), but I don't think it will be any trouble to work you in. Wat is my third, so I figured I'd take a turn "behind the screen".

OOC: Actually I'll be leaving for two weeks starting this Friday, and internet access won't be frequent. This is my third character, so I should be the last option in case there are more players available than spots (though I imagine this will be a slow posting period, and two weeks is small compared with what normally an adventure takes anyway)

The deep rumble of Marrgash's laugh fills the room. "You understand at least. In that case, my little friend, your fate is yours to decide, but you surely should not be caged like some pet."

Marrgash tries to open the cage, but the welding proves too strong for him to force. He reaches for a butter knife and uses it as a crowbar to push the bars of the cage apart to free the creature.

"Your calling is your own," he says to the pixie. "If you would join us helping this unfortunate man, I for one would be glad of your company, but that choice lies with you and you alone."

"Whatever you do, given what I have heard of your exploits, I would recommend some further caution that you work within the law. You will not wish to run afoul of the local guard."
