Metacritic says 80/82 for 360/PS3. Not too bad so far.

Ctl+Alt+Del says it's pretty long:

My first run through of Skyrim was almost 150 hours, so I'm not sure what long is....

My wife bought a new KoA yesterday.

It plays more like Dark Age, but is more open like Skyrim

Dialogue isn't as expansive as Dark Age

colors in the village are too bright

no manual in the box (was this a mis-pack?)

she seems to like it overall.

EA no longer puts manuals in games. Which is fine, the 4 page pamphlets they were doing the past few years was pointless.

To pull this back on topic...

Bought the game Tuesday; I've played a bit less than 4 hours now. I feel I'm not leveling as fast as in the demo, though that could just be my memory. I haven't actually checked how high a level I got in the demo. I also feel it's a bit harder than the demo; while I haven't died yet, some fights have been close, which wasn't the case in the demo (for me). I'm enjoying it. I like that I can solve some problems with my Persuasion skill (for example: instead of killing someone, just convincing them to give up an item). Also, a point in Detect Hidden is a must; it shows enemies on your mini-map, which is quite useful if you like to sneak-attack. A point in Alchemy also helps a lot with regent harvesting.

My cousin's excitement rubbed off on me and so I picked it up yesterday. I've only got about 2.5 hours on it but it is really quite fun.

The RPG aspect of it is not going to redifine the fantasy rpg genre but I almost like it better because they aren't trying to "wow" me with their insightful new world with ground breaking storylines. It's a solid, simple story and it's told in the style of copious dialogue windows. But the voice acting is fair to good and we get more voices than Fallout 3 had for sure.

Where it really picks up its own steam is in the actual gameplay. Rather than simply having to wade through another mindless combat to get to the next story point (*cough* Skyrim's teribad combat *cough*) you get to have every fight feel like it could be ripped from the pages of a comic book whether you are fighting a wolf, a kobold or a rock troll. Sure that won't fit everyone's personal fantasy tastes (and usually wouldn't fit mine as I go for more somber tones), but the first time you blow up four Kobolds with a power blast from your fire staff...I DARE you to not smile like a farting infant...

Who knows if I'll be as excited about the game on hour 30 as I am at 2.5...but so far I have been grinning like an idiot and exploring the first town, anxious to get back out into the forest and punish some wildlife. Speaking of...the mobs in the game don't just stand there waiting to die. They move around and look like they are just going about their routines (rolling in the dirt, chatting together, etc).

If you are interested in this game at all you owe it to yourself to at least play a couple hours of it on a friend's console. I personally can't wait till my little ones head off to bed tonight so I can burninate. Who cares if I can tell where the plot's going already :-)

Got mine installed and been playing as I had time over the weekend, about 6 hours game time. Have enjoyed it, it is not ground breaking but it is a solid system, I have had no issues with. Game has the look of Torchlight but feel of The Witcher 2, at this time, again only about 6 hours of play time. Lots of areas to explore and kind of wish the mini-map had more of a fog of war to it.

Playing a Fighter/Mage but maybe switching up to a Thief/Mage.
