Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Been roaming more than questing, got to focus on completing some of those quest. ;)

Also, need to find a freaking healer...been roaming around cursed for some time now and not having mana regen is getting old!

There's a healer in the first town, upstairs in the Inn. You should see a cross on your map when you zoom in.

I've played about 10 hours now, really enjoying it. I'm playing a stealthy assassin, sneak-attacking with daggers. I like the storyline so far, though I've been mostly doing side quests. My character is level 10.

I find some skills better than others; sneak, persuasion and detect hidden seem to be the better ones so far, for my play style anyway.

Did not even stop in the first town

I had given this a cursory glance, but hadn't really paid it much attention. Then on the local news radio they started talking about the 38 crew behind the project (Funded by Curt Schilling, who founded and owns 38...R.A. Salvetore was involved in creating the world...can't go wrong with him!) and I poked into the IMDB for some of the voice over work. Some people there I idolize as a wanna be voice talent. So i went looking for reviews, and naturally thought of this place. Thank you for the informative (if sometimes sidetracked) reviews. keep them coming. In March I'm getting a new game (I plan to have beaten Sakura Taisen V by then) and right now this looks like the front runner.

Finished my first playthrough. Not sure I'll stick with it long enough for a second. If you generally play games once and move on I'd still recommend it. If you like to play games through multiple times and have different experiences or make different meaningful choices...look elsewhere.

At the end of the day I'm giving it a 7 out of 10. The game has good bones (maybe even great ones) and a lot of love and care behind it. This is what impressed me the most. The care that went into making the game really shows. But it falls short on actual implementation when judged as a whole experience. For me it falls into the trap of trying to bridge multiple gameplay styles and not really delivering on any one of them. So no matter what game style you are looking for it won't have enough of "it" to see you through hundreds of hours of gameplay accross multiple characters.

BUT I would still heartily recommend this game to people who haven't played a lot of video games lately (you will have a better shot at avoiding the jaded aspect that colored my experience). Also for people that like to play a game through once and move on then this title is for you.

Been playing now for 45 hours, same character and yet to roam everywhere or do all the quest! Yep, it is hack and slash but you can move all over the map, skipping whole areas! And there are a lot of areas!

As I said, hack and slash and some monsters will kick your butt. Found that it does pay to back up your sword with a spell or bow.

I have been having a good time with it.

I felt kind of dumb for not checking out the bubbles in the rivers for so long. :(

Same here; I've put in about 40 hours (level 30), and I'm still loving it. Primary weapon is daggers, and secondary is bow. Daggers are very fast, so I can usually interrupt enemy attacks and keep them "stun-locked".

The skill I use most is Detect Hidden, and Persuasion. For the other skills, I'm getting by with only a few points. I can unlock very hard locks with only a few points in Lockpicking (and buying lockpicks), and get by with finding potions and crafting Minor/Greater Healing (I don't use other types of potions...). I don't care if I blow up a chest with my low Dispelling skill; I heal myself, and if I get cursed, I find a healer. I haven't crafted any weapons or armor; I just use what I find.

I use potions left and right. love the tab dail system, wish there were more items to place in them. Skills for me detect hidden and dispell. Found repair kits are cheaper that having stuff repaired.
