I state upfront that I am biased in that i've always preferred and liked the 'laser' type cleric over the armored-hammer type.

Having said that, i think seeing both clerics was awesome in that we got to see very tangible differences in how either one played by simple choice differences for domain (okay and theme too). But the 'laser' cleric of pelor will pretty much always be my preference between those two because i like the channeling of radiant type blasts. :)

The cleric of moradin is so much like a smiting paladin defender type that I am not sure what design space is left for a separate paladin class.

If two clerics enter, and one cleric leaves, there must have been a troll disguised as a bear involved.

From my DM vantage point, the Pelor cleric stood out more, if only due to the Super Laser of Doom. I'd expect to get a paladin vibe from a cleric who takes a fighter-friendly theme like Guardian. It'll be interesting to see what a cleric's domain/sphere/god of choice gives on its own.

Laser clerics annoy me -- that's the wizard's territory and should be rare for clerics, though a priest of the sun could make a case. Between that and the fact that I tend to prefer martial characters, anyway, I'd rather play shorty.

That said, Sunspot leaves some room for the paladin. Of course, I wouldn't shed a tear if the paladin became a theme/kit/whatever and ceased to exist as a separate class, so Shorty doesn't bother me.

I like Shorty the Paladin in Cleric Drag. Pelor-boy is a better healer and fun in his own way, but by Hammer and Tongs, it feels good to guard as a healer.
I can not wait to see the domain rules and all the wide range of clerics we will see. Stealthy heals will be fun to play as well.
I enjoy both, and am a sit on the fence lemon curry type. I loved 2Es cleric system and the best class in Fantasy Craft is Priest (which runs similar) so I am STOKED to see the 'domain' based divine spellcaster idea.

As you said finally stealthy clerics of thievery gods without multi-class shenanigans I hope!

I don't like laser clerics. Clerics are supposed to wade in and mix it up with a mace or stout cudgel, smiting infidels.
No, a cleric is supposed to stand way away from the battle, holding up a staff. And as long as he is able to keep holding the staff up, his side has advantage. Getting two other people to help you hold up the staff when your arms get tired is an acceptable Combat as War tactic. :p
