Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

"No slight intended Mr Cobb. I'm pretty sure it is actually rat. I know a rat when I eat one. But it's warm and there is gravy and bread. That's a damn sight better than raw. Thank you Missy and apologies for calling your rat stew... rat stew."

Leather falls back upon his plate hungrily, unruffled by Gneil's chide. It seems he is quite used to having small folk yelling at him for doing things wrong if his familiar and accepting response is anything to go by.

OOC: They very often serve rat stew in here ;) And given that Leather has annoyed Blagarm I'm taking it as a given that he has indeed been served a helping of just that.

Haaku steps through the tavern doors warily, taken aback by the ruckus. He was used to the quiet of the desert. He pulls his dust wrap down from his face, and calls to the bartender, as he had been told was custom: "Name's Haaku. Sword arm is for hire. Thirsty." He gives the tavern's inhabitants another cagey glance, and then does his best to find a seat out of the way. The best he can manage is a spot at a table with an empty seat between himself and what appeared to be a gypsy were-hyena. Haaku tried not to be overwhelmed the oddities with which the place teemed.

OOC: Haaku is a L2 Ranger|Fighter/Monk, and will be doing next to no Defending, but more than his share of Striking.

Leather looks up as the monk gives his name.

"Would you look at that. A human. That's a bit wierd."

Was it possible? Did Leather just crack a joke?!

Gives up on the waitress as she stares at him blankly turning his attentions to the fighter looking up to him as he spoke then back towards the door. Leaning over towards leather he whispers softly, "Someone should warn him that the creature he just sat by is a little... off.", his expression was as serious as the tone of his voice. Waiting for his tea to arrive he forgoes the "rat stew" and decides to take in the vibe of the tavern. His wispy brow danced as his icy blues moved about the musky Hanged Man.

Haaku fidgets. He's restless, and he keeps catching people watching him. His ale arrives and he takes it wordlessly, only acknowledging the waitress enough to leave a little silver in her palm. He leans over to the strange character at his table, and says, "This is the right place, isn't it? If I'm looking to find mercenary work?"

Catches the gaze of the dusty traveler and turns his head slowly back to face the many decanters behind the bar. Hearing Leather's response he nods in reply and takes on a devilish grin looking over at the stew he swirls a little finger in the air. Taking a sniff of the grewl he looks up to the fighter, "Might find the taste of your meal more to your liking now...", giving the same grin hoping the dark scarred man enjoys the works of his cantrip.

"I'm glad you didn't stick your finger in the stew. For a second there I thought you were going to."

With that he digs into the stew. His face melts into one of pleasure in a moment.

"Oh ... that's good! What is that? Duck? In orange sauce ... and a touch of cinnamon? Oh ... Mr Cobb ... that has to be even better than me mam's cooking. You could become a wealthy man if you owned a place like this and sold food like that."

He falls silent as he dives back into his food, now with enthusiasm, savouring every mouthful.

Smiles warmly at the human's reaction to the illusion of culinary excellence finding a good foul to be his favorite meal served with the right sauce and wine! He nods to his complements and holds a hand up as if to protest the many things said, "Tis true the stew tastes wonderful now but unfortunately once the magic wears off it will still be rat stew in your stomach and not the savory duck you now taste.", he explained becoming increasingly tired having heard this tavern was one to sweep the idle adventurer far and away.

OOC: The gentle nudge :D

So at that, are there any upcoming adventures for level 1 PCs on the cards? Any DMs who have something planned in the near future or waiting for approval?

I can't seem to see the upcoming adventure thread anymore. Which means that it must have been inactive for quite a while. (Or I'm looking in the wrong place)
