Harmonium Peacekeeper - Mount calculation problems

Hi guys.

My predicament for this time involves the Harmonium Peacekeeper from Dragon Magazine #315.
The problem is that its not that clear on one of its abilities. (for me at least).

"Special Mount: The Harmonium Peacekeeper gains a special mount equivalent to what a 5th-level paladin would get (PHB page 45). The mount rests in Arcadia.
If the Harmonium peacekeeper already has a special mount from a previous class (usually paladin), those levels stack with the peacekeeper levels when determining the mount's abilities. For example, a Fighter 6/Paladin 3/ Harmonium Peacekeeper 1 would have a special mount equivalent to the special mount a 8th-level paladin would have."

So the issue for me is that it dosent clearly state that at level one the HP gets +4 levels that count towards calculating the mounts progression at level 1, but it shows up in the example in the text.

Could some one clarify this for me plz?

(at first level, I assume)
You do not mention the progression of the mount (If any) from peacekeeper levels, so let's ignore that for the moment.

The HP gets, at level one, the special mount of a Paladin lvl 5.
Calculating the mount abilities of a HP:
5th lvl Pal - HP lvl 1 = 4
So, a first level HP gets HPlvl +4 mount abilities.

Which is consistent with the example:
HP lvl 1 + Paladin lvl 3 + 4 = mount abilities of an 8th lvl paladin.

Now, whether the same mount would have the abilities of the mount of a 9th lvl paladin after taking his second level of HP depends on whether the mount abilities improve with HP levels.

What I forgot to mention that Special Mount is not a requirement for the prestige class.

Oh my bad, yea i get it. What I thought was that the "as a 5th level Paladin" part only is for non-paladins. Explanation: Cause the paladin gets a mount at 5th level, so a non-paladin taking this Prestige Class at level 7 would have a good base for the mount.

Thnx for the reply.

It sucks to be Harmonium or Paladin in Sigil :P

Sorry I simplified that part.

"When the Harmonium peacekeeper isn't using it, the mount grazes placidly in pastures near the Harmonium's castle on Arcadia"

I guess there alright near a place where more of there kind reside. :)
But yea Sigil is a bit of a cluster f*** when it comes to evil beings.

But when he wants to use it, how could it possibly to summon that creature to Sigil? As far as I know, the Lady of pain blocks teleport from outside the city...

Why did you even mention Sigil in the first place? Arcadia is a plane of its own... never mind. XD
