I'm fairly certain that this poll won't get enough votes to make it meaningful, and of course EN World might not represent as diehard a Pathfinder crowd as the Paizo forums, but I'm curious anyway. To quote any number of my adolescent students: "So...whatever."

Anyhow, there's a poll to come, but please explain your position - why or why not. Thanks.

p.s. This poll is, obviously, based upon what you've seen so far and heard. Also, just pick the option that is closest to how you feel; it doesn't need to be an exact fit!

Nothing I have seen thus far from WotC is urging me to abandon Pathfinder, except with the Caveat that if it is indeed OGL, I will very probably pick it up just to learn the rules.

I can think of no good reason to refuse to try something new other than "I have looked already and don't like what I see", which doesn't apply to me. So I voted for the "try it and see" option. It's hardly a legally binding choice for life! :)

Will see how it goes. Already play 1e and Pathfinder... and a game where I could ratchet complexity up or down via modules would be great. If Wizards manages to make it work well.

Would I stay with it? Who knows. I may move back to Castles & Crusades Or go to Dungeon World from Pathfinder simply because I grow tired of the rules heavy nature of D&D 3x.

Switching games isn't a big deal to me. Nor do I care to see companies as something to be loyal to. Either you have something I wanna buy or you don't.

Time and player availability.

Also, how's the weather up there?

True, I can see that as a factor. But the default assumption that one needs to have one game bothers me.

It's... Between seasons. We have had flurries, warm afternoons and ever thing in between. Can't wait for the snow though!

I think this is an assumption more prevalent with the 30+ crowd than the under-30 crowd. What I mean by that is, is that most 30+ year olds have an established career and/or family, which limits gaming opportunity and availability. Most older gamers, except for the diehards (and those with gamer spouses!), are only able to play one game at a time, and generally don't want to spend a ton of time learning new systems.

I think my group is relatively common. We're all in the late 30s to 50ish range. Most are casual gamers who started playing D&D again a few years ago when we started after not playing for 10-20 years. I'm the only one who is a serious gamer, and has played somewhat regularly throughout the last two decades.

I'm fairly certain that most of the others would be willing to give whatever game I was willing to run a shot, but most of them would prefer D&D and really just show up to kill things and take their stuff. Even if we tried something else, we'd probably come back to D&D.

As for running both Pathfinder and D&D, I respect that, but for me they're both D&D -and given the above, I don't see myself playing more than one version at a time.
