Please FR wise men, enlighten me with your wisdom: wasn't Tiamat already part of the D&D gods? I mean, in Player's Guide to Faerun, page 151, under Dragon Eirye realm, it's stated that Tiamat lives in there, in a place called Cave of Greed. This is a 3.5 supplement, so according to this, Tiamat shouldnt' have been 25000 years stranded in the Nine Hells, but ruling her little domain in the FR Cosmology. Am I wrong? Am i missing anything?

I want to know what multiplatform means? I'm not interested in a video component. I want to know when a product called D&D comes out...

Tiamat has been part of the gods who are active in the Forgotten Realms for a long time.

Prior to the Realms having their own cosmology, they were part of the Great Wheel (as Ed greenwood originally wrote them when he made his stories into an AD&D setting). Thus, they ported in that Tiamat was the Lord of the First, ruler of the first layer of the Nine Hells, as listed in (if I recall correctly) the first Monster Manual.

Your characters even went there to fight her in the Forgotten Realms adventure H4 Throne of Bloodstone. Her history in the Realms is explicitly discussed in the 2E supplement Powers & Pantheons, to say nothing of other 2E FR supplements such as Draconomicon and Cult of the Dragon.

I had forgotten that Tiamat was in H4 - *IN* the Realms. :)

Of course, I expect we'll see more mis-steps from the hype machine.

Before 4E released, one of the 4E designers/developers stated that the Cyclops was going to be in the 4E Monster Manual so fans would see it for the first time since 2nd Edition. (It was in the 3E Deities & Demigods.)

If you name was on both Keep on the Shadowfell and, even worse, Pyramid of Shadows wouldn't you also want to pretend that that entire era of D&D did not exist?

I know I would.

I enjoyed Keep on the Shadowfell. I really enjoyed the way it was laid out so that each encounter introduced a new rules concept, which made it great for teaching the new system.

No one has mentioned Viking Ships!

I caught that too. I am wondering if that was more for public consumption than D&D grognard. Perhaps dragon ship? Longship? But probably not everyone outside of history buffs knows specifically what that means. Viking Ship probably fits the bill better.

I also think that this only means Longships for people without history knowledge of that time.

I just shrugged and marked it of as another "rule of cool" thing as I can't see how anyone in the realms would still be using Longships successfully (especially in naval engagements) considering the (non-magical) technology they have.
