D&D 5E how many 5e supporters are upset about the possible $50 price tag

How did the price of $50 effect you?

That poll is pretty darn biased. I wouldn't be surprised to find that some people avoid voting in it for that reason.

how is it biased? I have options for on the fence both ways and options for already for it both ways, and the only thing I didn't think was necessary was a "I wasn't interested, but now I am"

If folks are getting upset about the *possible* price, seen for a short time on a listing by a third party, that was then withdrawn, I think there's a problem.

Wait to see the actual price before getting into a huff. Do not fall for manufactured outrage, folks.

Didn't vote. Still PBP-playtesting on EN World. (But the DM is busy dealing with a flu episode at home, so posting has generally bogged down.)

Also, I'm waiting to see what the starter set contains. If it's a good one, I would become more enthusiastic about the Standard game when it comes out.

Re: The Poll: That second option should end, "doesn't affect me," using the word "affect" with an "A" instead of "effect" with an "E." (To "effect" me would be to cause me to come into being. I'm sure you didn't mean that.)
Also, the phrase "won't" contains an apostrophe before its abbreviated "not" portion.

The "I dislike Wotc and am happy they are pricing themselves out" option struck me that way. Upon a reread, that may not have been the intention; but it doesn't at all represent someone whose choice is "I don't like the looks of 5e, and the price is another nail in the coffin" who actually likes WotC and wishes them no ill.

Wouldn't that be "I didn't like 5e so I still won't buy it"?

I'm not fully committed either way but am probably leaning 5E supporter; I find the pricing decision to be cause for concern but not a deal breaker since we don't know what the value for price is yet.

Admittedly, the price has made me wary.
The price is high. I'll pay $50 for a small company RPG product. Heck, I'll pay a lot more (and have) for books I want from smaller companies, ones with lower print runs or generally hefty RPG books (*cough* Tome of Horrors Complete *cough*).
But not from The Name in the industry, not unless the book is worth it: i.e. big and amazing looking.

I'd like to buy it and the game seems fun, but I'm also not buying it blind. Not any more.
I want to see how much my group can customize it, because building characters is a little too option lite for my players. Which is fine as a baseline, but they need some more optional ways to customize for me to be able to sell the game to my table.

I was planning to buy 5E before, and I still am now. But the $50 did make me do a double take. I'm hoping it's just Barnes and Noble guessing based on comparison to Pathfinder, and not the actual MSRP.

I make probably a dozen 50 dollar gaming purchases a year. That includes TTRPG and video games. A video game usually last me a few weeks, longer if I am lucky. If I was to compare the amount of time a product is useful to me the TTRPG products win hands down.

I think its crazy to find 50 dollars for a PHB to seem unreasonable. Now I could see 50 dollars being too much for what is eventually offered content wise, but I cant evaluate that at the moment. I am a little surprised at the amount of people upset over this to be honest.

This isn't manufactured outrage. This is worry, and disappointment. If wotc release a $10 phb, or a $25 phb I'll be on here singing there praises... how ever with the only information coming from a third party (all be it a trusted one) that is what we have to work with.

I have always said IF wotc expects us to pay $150 it might just be too much...not when.

Even if B&N got it right, they still could change the price based on these reactions...
