The elf dislodges the mud ball at the top of the pile with the butt of his polearm, letting it roll down the side before stopping it. He jabs roughly at it once, enough he figures to crack an egg but not a skull. And then if there is still nothing he guides it out of the 'hut' and towards some water with which to wash away the mud.

"Is everything alright in there?" she shouted towards the hut.
"Yeah," came back Fastus' voice after a pause (he'd obviously missed Jariah's answer from inside). "Well, sort of... There's a bunch of trophy's hanging on the wall, clothes and whatnots. It's pretty bloody. There's a bed, and Suldrel's looking at some Soggy Monster eggs or something..."

He watched the elf experiment. "Guess we're studying it first?" he offered Sachiko with a shrug.

"Uh..." Looking about. "Let's help Jakira in the meantime, alright?"

OOC: And he sets to doing just that, especially looking in, under and behind the bed area, please.

The first jab does nothing. Rolling it out and washing it produces a grisly skull with fragments of hair. The skull is bashed in on the top.

Sachiko pauses at Suldrel's actions, and her yellowish eyes widen at the sight of the skull.

"Oof...okay...so we won't smash them."

She looks back at the pile and goes a little greenish.

"It kept their HEADS. Why would it keep their HEADS?"

Jakira sniffed around the muddy skull and reported back through the mental link at what they found. “Mebbe cuz two heads be betterrr than one, so twenty must be even betterrr.”

Jariah spoke to the others remaining outside, her voice solemn, “Oh, my. They found several skulls that creature kept as trophies. They were not eggs.”

Jakira Take 20 on Perception +5

Jakira determines that there are 23 articles of clothing including the pair of leather arm guards which are intact. He also sees that there was a total of 11 spheres. He determines that of the articles of clothing the arm guards are the only things worth anything. Nothing else of note is in the creature's lair.

"We can't bring them ALL back... Bury them here, maybe?" He'd been hoping to use his short-handled spade for digging up stuff, not the reverse, but considering the circumstances...

OOC: If the others agree, Fastus will head back out, informing Jariah, Elli and Wireth of what he's doing before starting to dig at the best spot he can find, please.

Suldrel carefully cleans off the other mud balls. It would not do to leave them wrapped up like they were as the Soggy River Monster's trophies. "I am inclined to think we should bring these back to town," says the elf. "Someone who is more familiar with town history may be able to identify them. But even barring that, perhaps they can be buried in some sort of memorial with the names of all suspected victims of the beast."

Fastus didn't know about any memorial, but... Yes. He nodded heartfelt agreement: "They'll be happier closer to home, right? Don't know WHAT I was thinking."

(He knew what he'd PROBABLY been thinking - namely that it would take all day and no more treasure hunting - but Suldrel was right: they probably owed it to those dead people.

It was the right thing to do!)

"Hammock again?" he suggested. With the two of them carrying it (or just one if somebody else picked up the other's pack), it should go EASY. Skulls were bulky but light, right?

Note: Fastus and the gang bought an extra hammock for Suldrel way back when.

OOC: Are there any goblin and/or other non-human/elf/halfling skulls in there, TS? Fastus would tend to get rid of those by default.
