Unfortunately, while they can't fire you, there is no requirement to pay an employee during jury duty- and most employers don't. You usually get some money from the state- usually less than $10/day- but if sequestered, your (reasonable) lodging & dining expenses where they house you are covered.Ive served on jury duty, but fortunately never for a big months long case. If this staffer is sequestered, it makes it all the more an issue, because they are not allowed to communicate via phone/media/etc. Hopefully they reach a conclusion soon and this staffer can get back to work. Wizard's must pay for jury duty, because if they don't, this poor chap is out of his salary for 6 months.

The thing is, though, that when I asked MM when the conversion guides would be out back in September, he said later in the fall but that they were delayed due to the DMG delay. If the jury duty thing first happened in Dec/Jan, then something else must have further delayed them from being released in the fall like Mearls had originally said. What likely happened was jury selection, an often multiday process occurred back in December or January. Now the actual trial is beginning and it will have an expected length of four months.
The DMG was delayed because it wasn't done and it needed more polish. They told us as much. The conversion guides were pushed back since it was all hands on deck for the DMG. Chances are other stuff got in the way of the guides at that point. Plus the holidays. And then jury duty. Then more jury duty. The thing is, though, that when I asked MM when the conversion guides would be out back in September, he said later in the fall but that they were delayed due to the DMG delay. It should be clear that the guides aren't a high priority for WotC.
