D&D 5E When do you think they will announce the next book?

No, just mis-quoting him.

Whoa there with the loaded words, cowboy. It is almost as if you are calling me a liar or do not know what mis-quoting means. The word you are looking for is paraphrase. From Merriam-Webster: a statement that says something that another person has said or written in a different way. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/paraphrase

This is what Mearls originally said to a news paper:
We're looking at two storylines a year. Right now, we have plans laid down for stories up through 2018.

So I was paraphrasing Mearls when I said "two APs a year were supposed to be released".

Scribbles on a napkin, ladies and gentlemen. http://www.enworld.org/forum/conten...k-and-Princes-of-the-Apocalypse!#.VRm5cvmG-T8

When was Mearls forced to answer any questions? Did Morrus put a gun to his head when he asked about the cancelled splatbook? If Morrus did, that is indeed reprehensable.

If only one AP is released this year and I ask Mearls what happened cause he said two APs a year were supposed to be released, am I oppressing Mearls?

As for leaks, WotC doesn't tolerate leaks, so the three "leaks" were not leaks. Just info that WotC gave to publishers/distributors that they accepted could be made public. WotC certainly didn't ask for the ad copies and cover art to be taken down. WotC doesn't tolerate leaks after all.

Seriously, man. What did Wizards do to hurt you personally? Your animosity seems excessive.

Princes of the Apocalypse seems to be larger than the Tyranny of Dragons. As such it could cover a longer time frame. I think it really depends on their marketing plans and tie-ins with the computer games. Whenever Sword Coast Legends has it's release would be a good time for a new product tie-in.

Organised Play is likely a major factor in the release schedule as well. Elemental Evil actually has a shorter window (a little under 5 months) than Tyranny of Dragons. The next storyline will begin at GenCon in at the end of July/beginning of August, 2015. (GenCon runs July 30-August 2nd this year).

That puts it in Q3 this year; I expect an announcement about what's coming up sometime in Q2, possibly June.

It's really worth noting that Princes of the Apocalypse isn't actually in wide release yet - only a few stores have it. Wizards would much rather people's attention be on their newest product rather than something far in the future. They've had a lot of experience with things being spoiled too early (I can think of a few D&D Miniatures sets where major spoilers came out and were incredibly frustrating for the Wizards team), and it's not something that helps.

So, at present, all of Wizards' marketing is concentrating on its Elemental Evil releases. They are concentrating on what's actually coming out.

Once Elemental Evil is fully in swing - another month or two - they can start ramping up marketing the next storyline and set of releases.

As to rulebooks and campaign settings... Mike Mearls has said that they're taking a slow approach to releases. They're not rushing into things, but paying a lot of attention to the feedback on the edition. After all, most of us haven't played *that* much of the game. I've played quite a lot of 5E, and I don't consider myself an expert, especially not with high-level play!

Cheers!

That is an original take on what I said. What do you see here?

A MerricB says, the organized play determines the release of the next adventure. The player's guide says this season runs until August, which is when the next will begin. So we'll see the story then.
