D&D 5E Death Clerics, Death Touch, and Vampiric Touch

I'll add my vote to yes, as its thematically appropriate and not overpowered. Moreover, its a "closing move" as opposed to an opening nova, as the additional benefit is healing you, which is wasted if you aren't hurt.

I would happen to be the "other DM" that Kristivas was talking about in the OP. I agree that the spells should work together for damage, but the way the Vampiric Touch spell is written you'd get half of it's damage back as health. Now I've said to Kristivas many times, that it's his game and he can interrupt the rules how ever he wants to but he would like us to have some cohesion between our campaigns. I was just giving my interpretation of the RAW.

I believe the synergy is obviously an unintended one, and as a result I would not allow the extra damage from Death Touch to count towards the healing from Vampiric Touch. It doesn't nerf anything; you still get tons of necrotic damage, and you still regain (3d6)/2 back.

(but obviously, play what you like)

I'm not sure if it was unintended or not. Until someone asks Mearls on twitter, I'm going to go with what would be thematically cooler. VT is necrotic damage. DT is necrotic damage. When used at the same time, it just makes sense (to me).
