D&D 5E [IC] Uller's Out of the Abyss

Lathander, I know you cannot see me down here, but I hope you can hear me! Guide my shot, let me lay low this servant of a dark lord!

With that prayer, he launches another stone.

OOC: RG thread is fixed

The crossbow bolt rips through it, leaving a large crater in the side of it. Its internal 'organs' spill out and are dragging with it. The fell voice in your head shrieks in agony. It turns toward the barbarian and continues on.

OOC: it is 'bloodied'. DMAesh, Ezraen's turn

Edit: Nevermind DMAesh....I didn't see your post...nice shot.

Ezraen's sling stone sizzle straight through the creature. The shrieking in your heads ceases and the oily slick becomes still and begins to drift away in the current.

Shuushar moves over to the fallen dwarf and begins wiping away the slime and blood. Eldeth helps him.

"There there faithful of Moradin....you rest. He'll be all right in a few hours...but we better get him to safety."

The buzzing is still going on above you. You see the flash of magic. Crossbow bolts start plunking onto the stone and echoing around you. The demons turn toward the outpost and a horrific shriek fills your ears like a peel of lightning. The drow must be sallying forth!

Sarith: We best move while we still can."
Derendil: "I agree." He scoops up the dwarf.

OOC: don't forget that one of the vrock is currently unaccounted for...you last saw it falling from the outpost.

OOC: RG still has my hp wrong.
As Ezraen finishes the fight, Surana looks around warily, squinting into the darkness. When nothing seems to stir, she stows her crossbow and takes a quick glance for any sign of Evandur and Ront.

The only signs you see of Evendur and the orc is a shortsword in the water near the shore that _might_ have been the sword the paladin used to cut his way through the webs. The water is dark, beyond the first few inches of depth it is impossible to see very far into it. The dark water flows away toward the north and the current seems to disappear under the eastern wall.

There are three passages out of this cavern.

While waiting to escape you were able to learn the following from your fellow prisoners: Toward the northwest is an area of lakes and water filled passages called Darklake. The closest settlement you are aware of is Sloobludop, a koa-toa enclave. It lies on this side of the Darklake and Shuushar would be able to guide you there and from there to any other settlements in the area (Gracklstugh, Blingdenstone, Neverlight Grove. It would take a little more than a week to get there (according to the koa-toa hermit).

The southwest passage leads toward a dark dwarf citadel called Gracklstugh. Buppido is from there and can get you there. He says it is a manufacturing and trade center and would be a good place to get equipment and information.

The northeast passage takes a long way around darklake and can get you to Menzoberranzan (drow city) and Blingdingston (deep gnomes...Jimjar, Topsy and Turvy are all from there but Topsy and Turvy seem hesitant to go there). It would take well over a month to go the long way around to get to Blingdenstone from here but it can be done. According to the deep gnomes, Blingdenstone engages in trade with the surface but has come upon some trouble recently. Attacks by earth elementals and other creatures is putting a strain on the deep gnomes.

Another settlement is Neverlight Grove. This is a myconid village and it is where Drum is from. Drum thinks that if you brought him back, his "parents" would likely be very thankful and helpful.

Right now you are all on the shore of the pool. You have all the gear you were able to carry out of the guard tower, plus the loot Erevan and Ezraen managed to grab from Ilvara's tower. The drow are beginning to come out to fight the demons. Sarith indicates that they will very likely pursue you. Losing this many choice slaves will bring disfavor upon Ilvara and she will die before leaving that sort of stain upon her soul.

Three of the Chasme and the one Vrock are now attacking the drow. One Chasme is dead. One Vrock is unaccounted for.

Take a moment to discuss what you want to do.

Here is a thumbnail sketch of the lay of the land.
